The campaign areas are fixed level, unlike the arena/monolith so that’s not a bug per se. If many areas had the same level, that might be a bug/oversight
I don’t think so, if the area’s level is static then the player should know if the level difference determins xp/etc. If the streamer’s character level was 18 in a lvl 6 area, he would probably have been gimping his xp.
Was his character level (as per the character screen) or the number of points he’d put into his base class that was so much higher than the area level?
It was probably an error on the area level then, if he was getting a reasonable amount of xp per kill. You definitely get less xp per kill when you’re over levelled (I took my lvl 95 Forge Guard into a lvl 6 area & was getting 1 xp per kill).
The early area area levels are a bit odd. It starts off at lvl 1/2, then jumps up to lvl 5 when you get to the Ruined Era without any movement in the intervening areas.
The areas to the right of the End of Time start at lvl 11 though, so it was probably a bug that the correct area level didn’t show.
I believe what you’re seeing is this UI issue i reported a little while back.
