Yeah, but it only died due to not having proper defenses and being slowed. If it had either of those, it would have lived.
“Not having proper defenses”
To get more than that I need to get very close to full T5x4 on all items, and it would still be wrong because I DON’T NEED full T5 to get only that one boss at <200 corruption and one dmg mod (while all the other bosses at same corruption just are correctly done like they are supposed to do)
Btw I’ve just killed the 1029410th (poison) orobyss in another timeline, 100corruption with like 150inc dmg, nothing came close to that kind of damage, probably scratched for 300dmg, but anyway
You’re wildly overstating yourself here. 30% movement speed is absolutely not “90% min-maxed”. It hasn’t even tapped out the full potential of a T5 Movement Speed affix on any of the 4 boot bases with high implicits - that’d be 36%, and I’ll put money on the table that with how close you were to the edge of the AOE it would have made the difference. And I know, because it makes the difference for my FG, which has never been hit by this boss’s AOE.
The real problem here is your success on “99% of the rest of the content” made you think your character is nearly perfect, and rather than accept that it’s actually not and getting better, you chose to blame the boss for having “bad design” because it blew you up on high corruption with a character leaving evasive potential on the table.
Yeah. In a world where bosses have AOEs you have to dodge quickly, movement speed is a defense stat, and yours is poor. The boss design is not the reason you died. Get over it.
Only if you have poor investment in movement speed. I have had zero problems evading things on any of my half dozen Sentinels.
T5 latest tier boots are 30-36. I am using a 32 rolled one there.
To say that I need the absolute best roll of the already best class and tiered boots, to MAYBE escape a visually bugged oversized aoe (maybe), at low corruption & dmg mod
I dont know how to say it gently but this is some absurd mental gymnastics so much that yes i’d rather request EHG to reduce the boss aoe by 10%, or increase cast by 1 second
32 is in fact 88.88888888888889% of 36%
This is actually what I fully mean and what I have put in the title.
Do I need to run with Shield Rush on my 2H sword character because like it happens in the clip the AOE IS HUGE AND BUGGED
Yes I’m going to call the Zombie Dragon a real badly designed boss (with so many such easy fixes, like… reduce the AoE or slow it down to let a slow ass melee FG run away lol) until it will let me walk away without the need to use Shield Rush on a 2H sword character
Assuming you also have your crit avoidance maxed, I’m gonna agree with Zaen here (despite how unpopular that apparently is). 65% more + 19% increased damage vs. 71% armor and 75% necrotic resist, 2500 health and 100% crit avoidance w/default 20% endurance SHOULDN’T be the “one shot” point vs. the slowest class in the game.
That being said, if you don’t have crit avoidance, you got crit. Get rekt. xD
These videos didn’t address Zaen’s situation (lunge as a movement skill) at all. We all know how to kill this thing, that’s not the topic.
They exactly addressed it - you don’t face tank that AoE, you get out of it. Its trivial to have boots + 2 silver rings to just… saunter out of the AoE. I do it many times in the videos, unless I screw up (my own fault) and have to leap/teleport out. That’s a player skill issue (I’m not really that good…)
Just to clarify: the current FG kit & mobility isn’t anything like what happens in these videos.
Base FG does move at 30 movespeed and nothing else.
That is unless you go to great lenghts with niche dedicated setups like… Shield Rush on 2H or some unlikely niche movespeed buffs (that I can tell will probably don’t proc).
If I need to put some niche crap for a dedicated boss, while all the other bosses just die with whatever I throw at them, FOR ME it is a bad design. You guys can have whatever opinion on it
Your opinion is that all bosses should be the same. You aren’t going to find a lot of agreement here.
This is 100% made up I have never written anything like that. Bye
This boss is one of the easiest in the game. That AoE is the only danger - all of its other damage can be face-tanked by a Mage with 10% Armor damage reduction. I’m literally telling you, the uniqueness of that AoE is the challenge.
So the only challenge is a screenwide AoE, and Zaen is saying that’s bad boss design. It’s called feedback, EHG asks for it, Zaen gave it, you gave it, I gave it. Nobody needs to be pissed about it, we’re all still killing the thing.
But, for the record, I like that boss. My solution on FG IS to predict and run away early, and it’s the only time I don’t like fighting that boss (unless I’m running Rebuke, then I love it).
I mean, you don’t really need all 5 of your skills to kill him. Swapping out Ring of Shields (nothing is using ranged attacks in there) for Rebuke if you’re too slow is fine. Or, as I said, just swapping on two 8% Silver rings (+16% more speed). Or a Belt with a “Ward and Ailment Cleansing on Potion Use”.
Personally I hate swapping gear, it’s annoying. When I’m playing/making builds, if it can’t clear all content (with investment) WITHOUT swapping gear or abilities, it’s a failure in my eyes.
If I wanna play rock-paper-scissors the RPG, I’ll go play some monster hunter. xD I have a FG with similar stats to Zaen’s guy up there, once I get to EoC with him I’ll see if I can tank the zombie burp(mine has ~30% endurance and 100% crit avoid).
I still kind of suspect he got crit though, which would be acceptable to die from with all the other pre-determined circumstances in place.
Hmm, Id actually be curious if EHG entertains the idea that gear/skill swapping is desired? Is there a manifest or something that might have this info, or is it unknown currently? I’m quite curious now.
Technically, you could run most monos with a few resists at 0, because once you know which mobs have spawned, you can just equip the gear with those resists (the other resists aren’t coming into play.) I mean, isn’t that a design thing? The fact that EHG has not mandated that every single echo spawns a wide variety of monsters which cover every resist?
Dude me too. I freaking hope not. That’s the part of MH that I LOATHE.
I like swapping gear and weapons and stuff on my own terms, not because the game makes me. Blech.
