At this point you should allow migrating characters between online and offline

As the title states. I know this will allow cheating and cheating is bad. But what is even worse is having an unplayable game. It is obvious at this point that the online issues are beyond what can be momentarily fixed.

If you’re reading this, devs, at least think about it. There are workarounds to make sure economy is not completely ruined once the game is fixed. Here’s the workarounds.

  1. Gold doesn’t go. Since mats are not tradable, economy is not affected.
  2. Stash doesn’t go, only what you got equipped.
  3. Offline gear gets tagged. This disables guys who create offline toons to make godrolls to sell them online.
  4. Cycle with leaderboards is off limits.

There. You will still get cheaters with perfect gear but since there is no competitive pvp, it’s a minor an issue, really.

The sad truth is that the game is not playable right now and probably won’t be for a longer while. And playing in offline and being locked to it with all your progress forever doesn’t seem like fun.

I agree with you. One way to do it. Keep your levels and progression in the campaign, as well as the gear, gold, shards and what you can fit in your inventory. Would limit the amount of cheating. Gear is easy to get, perfect gear not so much. But, it would allow you to farm crafting materials and bring that over. To give you a boost. Lesser of 2 evils in my opinion.

Actually< agree since offline single player is working absolutely splendid!

I agree

If servers are going to be a long term issue, then some kind of intermediate solution needs to happen while the team fixes the servers.

Allow only gear transfer and nothing else. But make the characters able to migrate.

No gold, no items in storage, cause that would mean introducing artifical amounts of gold and already good gear online with people unable to play so far.

Put a cap to the gold, something in the order of 100k max, you ll still start with a high level character and good gear, it’s fair you should build up the rest as you were starting fresh along other people who ll be able to play.

“You have to”
No, they don’t have to

a one way migration from online to offline would be sufficient. A copy. Lets say i have lvl 60 falconer, i will copy this character for offline fun while servers are melting and then do it again when im lvl 65 etc… a one way trip to offline solo play would not cause issues

what? :joy:

The game isn’t unplayable.

This idea is bad. It’s never going to happen, and there didn’t even need to be one thread about it, let alone a dozen. The damage that the rampant cheating would do outweighs any and all saltiness anybody has about not being able to play online.

Bro you just edited your title from “you have to” to “you should”, and now you reply to my post saying “What? :joy:” like i’m saying bs or whatever … you are weird

It’s unplayable ONLINE. Corrected.

A damage to what? The game cannot be played online right now for an extremely large part of the player base. There is no online Last Epoch. Not having a game you paid for is not saltiness.

And there were a few ideas here to minimize that damage. Probably won’t happen but it’s a fix - with side effects - to a much bigger problem here: there is no game.

Offline is complete local to your PC.

Plus it would be a bad idea moving files from any person’s local machine into the sever infrastructure.

Cybersecurity weeps.

I must have missed something, how come i’m lvl 70 online with not a lot of freetime to play if the game is unplayable online ?

Out of all the completely unreasonable stuff I’ve been reading on here. This actually sounds reasonable

Throw it into an actual suggestion thread

The other guy who responded to you is being a dick but he has a point sort of. We aren’t really into the “real” cycles yet. It would have a minimal effect on the game since this is basically a pre cycle.

They can do basic security checks before flipping those characters over and ban any bad actors. If people want to open themselves up to bans when they are actively monitoring for it. That’s on them. The economy basically doesn’t exist yet so that wouldn’t really be affected and OP made a good suggestion to mitigate that issue already

That’s not true either, though. Some people still have issues but thousands can still play online. I played online just fine these past 3 days. When there is a longer loading screen or failure to matchmake, I just do something else until it does. And these last 2 days I’ve played without any issues. Managed to finish the whole campaign just fine. You just need some patience at times.

Whenever I read all these posts about transfering offline to online, all I can actually read is “Please allow us to be able to cheat stuff into online”.

So you don’t have issues. Thanks for sharing. The rest of us - and there are a lot - will quit. Even if you don’t care about other people, even if you only care about your own experience - no offense - but you’re shooting yourself in the foot with comments like this because the game will fail for everyone if the player base falters. If this doesn’t get fixed asap, and by any means necessary, this game will wilt away. Also, there is POE2 on the horizon.

I do care about other people playing the game. There’s no getting around that the launch was a disaster. It was even worse than I was expecting. But I was just pointing out that there are thousands that can play. If you have some patience, you can usually log in and have things work out fine for long periods of time. Though sometimes you might have to wait for some time until it connects.

Your concept of not a lot of freetime is likely ONLY 10 hrs a day to play. Or you just play 5 am when it’s actually viable. Likely :stuck_out_tongue:

That is what YOU are reading. That’s not what’s being suggested and I for one am not willing to wait for ages to be able to zone from one area to another. That is just not good enough.
