It was released 23 years ago though. Damn, doesn’t feel like that long ago. That said, pretty much everything was fairly abstract then though, right? I go to D2R and watch the walking/running animation and smile because it’s charming.
And dude… people are saying reasonably so that this is not how it works.
For a reason.
There’s more work behind it then you think simply.
Pick up any random drawing program and try to make a pixel character with a single animation. 8 states we say (which is low).
Now re-do it in female.
Now add 3 armor pieces.
Now ensure each piece stays fitting with each frame of the animation.
Then lets talk again how much effort is behind it. That’s a simple starter job taking 2 hours for a professional.
LE has several hundred animations currently + over a dozen armor pieces to remind you.
Animators are paid better then illustrators even. We’re talking about 7-15k Dollar cost for your ask, the cheapest route.
And that’s not talking about voice lines. There’s at least 10-15 hours of work for the voicelines there per class. That times 5 since we now need the opposite gender. That’s another 10k easily.
Stuff’s expensive dude!
But so true
DS 1 was a masterpiece of the time and actually well loved! Gonna need to pick that up again.
