Any thoughts of adding sex to the class?

My dad died from cancer, so, no it’s not? Hell, even cancer nowadays isn’t the death sentence that it used to be in my grandparent’s day.

You’re right. My father died of cancer too; it was a bad and insensitive example.
Here, I fixed it.

By the way, are you sure he died of cancer and not of playing fortnite ?

Pretty sure, yes. His pc was probably older than the US.

My great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather died of the Bubonic plague, so no it’s not?

Also, it’s “worse”, not “worst”. (Just being a bit pedantic because Llama wasn’t).

Given the timeframe, it would have been funnier using Pong rather than LoL, imo.

TBH, I’m a little disappointed in this thread. I was hoping that the OP was asking to have romance options between the characters, but in a ‘classy’ way.

An easy mistake to make.
I myself thought it was going to be a plea for sex education in Eterra’s schools.

I think we should just get rid of all these annoying mechanics like gear, skills and combat and turn LE into a glorious dating sim.

it should be easy to add one more gender (male/female). They need to add one more animated character, they don’t even need animations because they use Unity engine and can use already existing animated skeleton

It is if you just want to use the same model & voice for both. I’m sure that would go down well. But if you want to have separate models & voices then that doubles the amount of work on top of the additional work that would need to be done to enable it since LE wasn’t designed for 2 separate genders.

But given they’ve not even done unique 3d art for all armours yet, this isn’t going to be a quick thing.

agree regarding the last message, but as a senior dev, with huge exp in Unity engine (games uses it) they dont need too much of a work, just a bare 3d model + the same animation skeleton

This reminds me of a user we had a few months back that said that you just need to use an AI tool and be done in an hour.

Sadly, this isn’t how it works. EHG doesn’t want to do a sloppy job on these things. So, like Llama said, unless you use the exact same model and say that it’s male or female even though you can’t really see any difference, they do require different models.
Since the whole point is to make them feel different, they will also require different animations.

Even if you assume that they can use the same model for most of the animations, the simple fact that you now have male/female means that the chest armors, at least, need to have different renders for each, so double the work. And, like Llama also said, they haven’t even finished the unique chest renders for the existing ones.

Not to mention that you absolutely do need double the voice acting, for the current existing lines and for any in the future that they add.

dude Im not talking about they just need to add 1 model and thats it, of course we need some armor and other adjustments, but its not like ground up new implementation of new system

I would assume that there would need to be some new stuff developed to introduce the concept of male/female as currently it doesn’t exist in LE, there is only the base class with it’s model & sound files.

What he/she is describing is only correct in a game where they start with ‘male’ and ‘female’ and everything uses one or the other.

No Rest for the Wicked does that. But that game doesn’t have classes. And they consciously decided to make their models look like a cross between a gorilla and a homo sapien, so you don’t really expect them to move like a human (male or female).

LE does not do that. The primalist body looks nothing like the sentinel body and they are both male and I think they use completely different skeletons and animations. And they are both male. Yes, I’m repeating myself.

Dungeon Siege did that, I think. They also didn’t have classes, so it made sense there as well. In hindsight I feel like Dungeon Siege didn’t get enough credit, probably because MS was the publisher. A shame.

D4 let’s you choose! … MsActi-Blizzard is a huge company that has gigantic coffers.

From memory, DS (1 at least) had vague drug-fuelled abstractionist depictions of humans rather than actual human models.
