Any Plans Of Showing More Insight?

Hey jo EHG Dev team! (@Sarno)

Of course you guys are completely busy developing an ARPG I guess. And while you are doing a great job from what i can judge I would be super interested in getting more insight on what you are currently doing.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining of any sort. You guys are really communicative on this forum, on reddit and discord. And before the patches you give us little hints and previews of what is coming.

But it would be super nice to see you guys making some dev livestreams before you roll out your big patches.

I already subscribed to your (unfortunately empty) twitch channel. You have 4k+ followers on reddit and near 12k followers on twitch (LE as a game not the official channel). With the recent discount there are also some new players coming to LE.

Surely this is something you have already planned. So is there a ETA? Can we expect this before official launch?

Just starving for more infos. Also would like see you guys and girls in motion.

Everybody who feels the same, please feel free to give this thread a vote. If you don’t care, please also vote

I actually used to stream development a couple years ago. We have talked about doing it again. I’ve actually recently re-set up my OBS. We aren’t committed to doing it again yet but it’s definitely a conversation we’re having. Is this something people are really interested in seeing? What sorts of things would you like to see the most? Lots of what I do is kinda boring because it’s mostly just sitting in the code. We also have to be careful to not undermine too many social posts.

Show us your home desks
( and maybe someone can secretly put in a preview of creating the rogue  )

Something like “Meet The Team” where you show us your workplaces and introduce you.

Before the patches you could make a preview stream playing the new build and talking about / showing the new features. The devs that are responsible for the features are present and answer questions about these features (and when Rogue will be implemented ).

Good examples are the streams of Digital Extremes (Warframe). Not so good examples would be all streams of Bioware regarding Anthem after release.

Has it already been a couple years ago?

It doesn’t necessarily have to be a live stream of you working. This really might be a little bit boring as well as distracting . But perhaps a kind of video blog highlighting some features to come - some ingame footage of:

  • New skills
  • New endgame
  • PvP
  • Story Chapters
  • Masteries
… with dev commentaries (what are the actual difficulties ?)

I’d really like to see an AMA on either here or reddit.

That could be interesting, though they are all over the world. I think that’s more for a post than a stream.

I’d personally like to get the dev’s point of view on things like balance, skill development, etc.

I think the last time they did one, it was during their kickstarter campaign. Would be nice to have one but I am not quite sure what warrants an AMA at this point tbh.

I think something like the grim misadventure from grim dawn devs would be the best.
Make a post about what you are working on, post some new animation, unique items or new art for zone, monster or item. Do it every 2 weeks or once a month whatever don’t take too much of your time.
Idealistically it should be on a regular schedule so people have something to look forward to.

This. It could be called last epoch times

Or “Next Epoch”

Yeah so devs i’m defintley interested in a bi weekly, or monthly last epoch news letter update posting!

One thing that would be really awesome, are posts / accomanying streams where the devs go over the intentions of specific changes. Development manifestos explaining a change and why a change is being made and the intentions behind it would be wonderful on the communication side of things.

A company to look at for examples on community management and this type of community communication would be Grinding Gear Games and their game Path of exile. These explanations go a long way in helping everyone understand the intentions and reasoning for a change and to be on the same page.

The devs here are more than familiar with GGG

I don’t like to make assumptions especially where suggestions are concerned. I do appreciate the insight though and will take that into account for the future.

It sounds like people would really like a video devlog from time to time. Might be a cool thing to do in interview style format with community collected questions. I can’t promise anything but these are the things we are looking to get in to sooner than later.

I’m not ontentionaly advertising here but take a look on the Sanctum Breach Discord. There is an entire section about the dev process and and dev related stuff there. Sure the dev is there 24/7 and has to much time and noone shoul’d be available 24/7 but there are some nice additons and the dev process is rather transperent. Maybe this helps because for me that’s the best way to communicate stuff. On top of that there is no politic kind of language used by him but simple honest words even on messed up stuff and the community is praising the guy and his work. Mabe something worthwhile to think about opr take a look at as a developer or community manager.
If this example is violating anything feel free to delete it and still take a peek ;).

The main downside of them communicating with us is that it takes time away from the devs actually making the game. Would I like more info? Absolutely, but I’d rather more stuff in-game…

What the best balance is, I have no idea.

I’m pretty sure that’s why there are CMs in other games ^^. To be fair they offer a lot of feedback and what they have in mind and the ask the devs part in the discord is nice as well. All in all we have a lot of information already to be honest.
