Unfortunately it had to happen at some point I guess. Fortunately I was able to put hundreds of hours before this happened. LE was one a the greatest time in my gamer’s life. I really had hope that this game becomes something greater than the “market”.
But money is the most powerful, and makes people do anything, including self destruction or selling it’s own soul to the devil.
RIP EHG, RIP LE.
Also…
It’s like the old trope of the man that falls for the hooker that loves him. It is LITERALLY the entire job of these people to seduce you in any way they can that will hold up in a legal battle if things go south. Be friendly and optimistic. Tell someone whatever they want to hear so long as it won’t lead directly to legal trouble you can’t get your way out of. Go on and on and on about how much you care and then rake in all the money. It’s just a direct financial incentive to say whatever you want to hear.
Well imagine yourself on Krafton place. You promised 250 million dollars IF game will be realeased in EA in 2025. And quality of game must be at least OK so people don’t spam negative reviews. And for Krafton point of view - game was not ready even to release in EA in 2025 and we don’t believe them why? Because 2 co-founders and game dir says otherwise. Funny. Can you remember state of the Subntautica or Below Zero on release? It wasn’t a game it was more like a tech demo. And i understand why Krafton don’t want to release unfinished product. They already released InZoi the killer of sims but in realitiy it was not even a game because there was nothing to play with! And delayed game for purpose to not release unfinished product with ton of bugs and secondly so they wont pay 250 million dollars to THREE people which are not interested in making games or in subnautica they just want making films while getting huge paychecks from project the are no longer in love. So no I care not for those who love their project only when it benefits them. I know that i have unpopular opinion but stop hating big companies because they are big companies that killing games. Subnautica was suppose to release in may 2025 and it’s not publisher who fails to deliver.
Sorry Mox, I love you, EHG and Last Epoch, but I think you are being very naive.
Anyway, I wish the best outcome for everyone!
uh-oh…
Yeah, it really reads as either someone who has no experience in dealing with wolves saying, “hey, it’s okay, they promised not to eat the sheep!” I don’t like it, I find it sad, and we’ll one day likely say “we told you so”. No company can grow forever and an always online ARPG has much lower ceiling than Amazon. So when EHG has a bad year, or a bad release, Krafton will come knocking and we’ll see how cool and cozy EHG feels about Krafton. Sadly, it’ll be too late.
Krafton is a bunch of fkin liers. Do not trust them one bit. They will bring down this game and EHG. Release yourselves from any contract immediately.
Good thing there is at least grim dawn dlc to look forward to…Last epoch? Better to be surprised than dissapointed I guess, but I have a bad feeling
Joining Krafton? Really great with the lawsuit around Subnautica 2 going on, prime timing I would call it… not!
Especially when it’s not even clear if the actions of Krafton related to that were in any way reasonably. Not releasing into EA while the majority of content goals for it being reached and it all hinging on 250 million as well is very much so a problematic situation, specifically when knowing how Subnautica 1 released.
So I’ll say for the moment ‘This is a negative direction’ and be quite pissed. Especially with:
Which ones? What does this mean? This is a nothing burger sentence.
What are those ‘bigger things’?
What are those ‘better things’?
Save the PR talk please, nobody enjoys it anymore, customers want clear and concise answers without this wishy-washy word-salad with no meaning behind it.
So you ran out of money basically after messing up the release date and overextending without any proper content-pipeline worked out accordingly?
Yes, checks out from what was seen. Great game still, those issues won’t solve itself without fundamentally sitting down and working it out properly.
That’s very good to hear, and clears up a lot where the performance hits might come from. Great to hear this is being tackled actively!
Doesn’t matter which side initiates it.
The outcome is what matters for us as customers.
As there’s no explanation just how much say Krafton has after this change I’ll stay more then cautious about the future of the game. With this information MTX payments definitely won’t happen from my side no matter what for a long long timeframe until I can be 100% sure this doesn’t affect the game in a major way.
I hope not many think like me and the influx of revenue stays sustainable.
Ok, so you can basically say ‘fuck all’ and that’s it. Nice… so basically EHG is a lost cause then since Krafton is a crap-show plainly spoken. ‘Best alignment’.
If your boat was sinking then Tencent would’ve been better even… and that’s saying much.
These terms are always thrown around and in reality it differs.
If they have power they have power.
They’ve shown to use that power in detrimental ways for the customer.
Hence unless you think of us (the customers) as insane then repeating the same behavior of falling into it is just not a thing to be done.
It is not, as it affects the product which we as customers paid for. Transparency for those things are the alpha and the omega.
Yeah, I wish it was true.
But I’m a living proof of ‘this goodwill is gone’.
Not spending a cent for the foreseeable time, might also switch over to true offline again solely since I don’t wanna have my progress just vanish.
I’ll give em a year if they actively talk against the decisions coming… if they follow along quietly and just let themselves be kicked into order then 4-5 before they’re ‘phased out’.
I would be fine with that after the promised content is released, namely the campaign finished properly, dungeons re-worked and 2 more (I think it was?) grand end-game mechanics to switch between introduced.
But what I think should be written there is: ‘We screwed up, didn’t manage our community and had no clue how to make a live-service game and so we’re facing bancrupty the second time in 2 years. First before our release and now once more.’ Which would be utterly acceptable. Closing down or acquisition through a shitty company? I would argue the acquisition is the better choice still since the Steam database has every available build of the true offline client stored anyway.
Cause they couldn’t get it handled to provide a decent pacing from 1.1 to 1.2 already and it’s utterly in the air to see if they can provide any acceptable quality with 1.3 given the shorter timeframe.
Don’t hold EHG’s development pipeline in high regards, they never showcased anything else then being vastly slower then the competition with regards to size of that content released.
And that comment ladies and gentlemen… is why grand game studios managed to get away for more then a decade with providing undercooked, underdeveloped, overdesigned garbage to customers!
Nothing against you there dear poster… but they don’t have a say in it anymore and are not allowed to speak badly of their new bosses, because that’s what the contract is as we already heard.
The full version of the game in every state is saved on SteamDB, you can download any build from there regardless of game. For the true offline client this is perfect after all.
It was already stated they have no control anymore. Krafton is now the one controlling it, not EHG.
Which is factually wrong.
There were miniscule changes in the roadmap and what was promised to the publisher Krafton, then Krafton went in and basically doubled the demands which is unfeasable to finish in time.
So please don’t spread misinformation, the game is more then EA ready, from the roadmap and finished parts being shown it’s beyond what many other games push into EA with even.
We can talk about the 250 mil aspect and how true those allegations are towards the former top people of the company… but related to the product state Krafton simply is in the wrong for not allowing EA release on time.
Yes, I do.
‘Oh, let’s make this contract and state specifically what we demand for it to be EA-worthy’
Time goes by, miniscule aspects are missing, instead extra content in alternative aspects gets implemented, substantially so in the building area.
‘Hrmm… now that doesn’t look right, they seem to make it in time! Hey… guys… add a second story chapter instead of only one and add around 30% more mobs then we told you to and you can’t release otherwise!’
Seems like they’re disgusting smears in existence to me Dunno about you… but with their former issues caused as well I would argue they are.
Hot takes:
- Subnautica 2 turned into a stink bomb. That 250M wasn’t going to the workers anyways.
- LE made its money. They need console ports. Getting a publisher can do this
- You probably won’t all have to move to Korea. Relax
- Grim Dawn isn’t going to replace anything
- At least it wasn’t GGG
lol
Have you guys been living under a rock??? Do you not know what they just did to unknown worlds… get ready to have your following and your game shredded by corporate greed, monetization, and in bad faith business practices.
I LOVE LE, but despise Krafton, I will not be giving that organization any of my money, which in turn means I will not be giving LE any of my $$$$. Sorry to see you all go. But marrying yourself to Krafton, kills LE for me.
I’m disappointed but not surprised. Get that bag and run I guess.
That’s only because you can’t replace something when you’re already #1.
As a big fan of Subnautica and Unknown Worlds my heart sank when I read this news. I hope you guys at EHG know what you’re doing.
I fear the worst but hope for the best. Only time will tell…
So i need to see information on roadmap and some pre-render videos so i can believe that game was ready enough to EA? No i wont. Because is there anyone who already actually played this game or all we have is dev word? I still remember top graphics rain from Watch Dogs or trailers of No Man’s Sky. All we do are just believing that Game was ready from people with standarts of EA like Below Zero.
As a longtime supporter of the game, I do hope that this partnership with Krafton is nothing but beneficial. I only want EHG to succeed and I don’t want to see this incredible ARPG and community suffer from microtransaction hell or have any negative business consequences come out of it.
Like many people in here, I have, what I would consider, a healthy amount of concern, but I am along for the ride and have my fingers crossed for us and for the EHG team. Let’s see where this goes.
Very disappointed with this move, it hurts to see a game you like contract a terminal disease, it was a good run, but your selected partner haves skeletons under the blanked.
it’s ok to bash a bit the doomers but you are kinda going out of your way cosplaying krafton defense lawyer.
If you believe that I have some oceanfront property to sell you in Arizona.
You don’t… and they provided what was pre-established and then went in to simply switch that up afterwards.
You don’t need to be a genius to see how disingenious that it. If you tell someone ‘take the flag off the pole’ and you expect them to climb the pole and get it off from there then you don’t get angry they get the flag down and then take it simply off.
They fulfilled what you asked for, not their fault you asked in unclear terms.
Yes, and we have a development document what was expected from Krafton for EA, what was agreed by Krafton to be an acceptable state for release and then which things changed from the developers side and what were the new demands later on from Kraftong.
We’re not talking about a ‘yeah, it would be better to do it, cook a little longer’ situation here. We’re talking about a situation where fulfilling it contractually provides the developers 250 friggin million.
So you gotta be held to quite a different standard then just a ‘Ah yeah, guess this wasn’t quite enough, can ya do a bit more?’ and you simply go along with it. It’s more money then you and your ancestors down in the total history since money existed ever saw in total for buying power.
So really… get off this ‘but the other games!’… nobody cares, it’s not about that. It’s about contractual obligations and fulfilling them, acting with a conscience. And then we can also take the other games under Krafton which all went to shit management wise… which is the task of Krafton to manage.
