I’m stuck on the game loading. Assuming online play is still down. I expected issues on day one as I’ve had that with the Diablo games. The Devs will sort it we just gotta be patient.
You better pay him EHG
I think you don’t have any idea of how scaling works in these terms, specially related to back end development/services. Sometimes, even if you are prepared, something will happen and your back end will suffer. They didn’t have the opportunity to test the game with more than 150k people trying to play it, it’s not as simple as scale something proportionally.
Next time you try to complain like that, do yourself a favor and get to study a little bit about the implications of back end development and scalability.
Yay gratz! save us a spot
Awesome I am restarting steam and client to see if I can get in
Didn’t ask
The quick response telling me it’s not possible to play online is gone now for me. Instead, endless “connecting”.
Tried restarting the game completely and noticed that my usual 14ms ping is now 24.
If you buy a new car which runs on tech that requires additional features which might have some issues on launch (and you know it) then you are familiar with it and you “SHOULD” expect it to have issues on launch.
Let’s assume the architecture is in the cloud.
Google Cloud Load Balancing
If using containers
Google Cloud Load Balancing uses proprietary technologies such as Maglev / Andromeda (virtualized and super scalable network).
High network loads should not be a problem.
Cloudflare Waiting Room
Cloudflare is a master of networks and serverless.
They developped a product called Waiting Room that can redirect excess traffic to a dedicated route in order to not overload the servers behind.
It is based on proprietary rate-limiting technologies.
With Cloudflare Waiting Room, you can gradually allow players to connect, by increasing the rate limit step by step, so there is no rush to the containers.
Im not “crucifying” anyone…Just saying that they should handle an player load of 150k without sweet otherwise i see an dark future for the game. And i dont think that the login is the Problem…because i see players streaming who already in the game and they cant really play because they cant get into other zones etc…Well im no expert…but i can be disappointed in an game if the launch goes this bad is all im saying.
Devs bragging about their infinitely scalable, elastic servers only to deliver this product should be ashamed.
This is just bad game design for something being in beta for 3 years obviously not worthing 35 buvks paid. So it is a fail
My guess is most people throwing temper tantrums right now were never people that were going to stay or contribute to the community regardless. Everybody screaming assumptions without any knowledge about what the issue actually is. They could push the game back a month right now and Id shrug and still be excited to play it next month.
If only we had a beta or load testing, we might avoided this issue >.<
For anyone wondering. Streamers are mostly playing OFFLINE. Everyone has online connectivity problems. They said they have container issues which means their code is messed up and they did not anticipate this many people playing.
These are the same idiots posting on X to come here for updates because they cannot simultaneously update their playerbase on channels THEY created. Now the forums are barely functioning.
If this is their best I’d hate to see their worst.
yes u had to know that are many players wanna play online… this so sad. It is some sort of accepted problems… every game have this problem… dont understand, if u want that player play your game, make sure u can handle all the player. so dont go online if u dont have the server capacity …
Welcome to World of Warcrafts launch where they undercut money for their servers and paid dearly for it on the backend. Just be real with us. WoW had to buy, from my company, expensive back end servers, Symmetrix in order to hand the I/O and all users trying to authenticate. It’s pretty obvious you tried to under cut this just like Blizzard did and many other companies. Not a good look…
Arpgs are pretty niche in the grand scheme of games, so I doubt they expected much hype from anyone besides arpg fanatics. Considering that the game has been basically out for years, I don’t think they expected to have over quadruple their top player count for the 1.0 patch on a Wednesday morning. The servers should get fixed, but this is by no means an issue for just Last Epoch.
Give them some time lads. Even the best, most experienced game developers have terrible launches for their games. No matter how prepared they were for launch, there are thousands of tech issues that can arise when loads of people all try to launch the game at the same time. Just be patient. They will fix it
