1.0 Server Status Thread

devs have said that their servers are fully elastic and that they have no upper limit on their spend. Its my impression that this is typical in large online games, and that servers are typically designed to scale with the rate of use.

You guys do realize this is a business and as such there is no way for them to provide this much server space when there won’t be this many people playing concurrently later on? Yes, they will get bad rep, but in the end they are saving money, so it is worth it for them.

Wonder if your brain even capable of understanding of this wording. I guess it could be some kind of desiase not to be offensive. Just take your pills and quit delusions. It is anger because you pay for it and you don’t get it. Its service stuff which is the oppsite of what we get here after 3 hours. Expect your face here when you ordered a burger in McDonalds and it was delivered 4 houres later. Of cours if you can afford it, since it is not obvious from your point of view if you ever had a clue about time and money in your life. But again hope this is treatable, or at least you will understand in high school in few years when grow up.

Never ask all the players to connect the same day
Moreover if you never tested that your architecture can handle it


Problem

You use containers

(bad thing, takes lots of memory, would have been smarter to use Cloudflare Workers)

Currently your instances die
before they can spawn another instance

It’s like eating an egg
before it can become a chicken and generate more eggs


Solution

Close the incoming trafic (consumers)
Spawn mass containers (1 container per copy sold)

When all containers are spawned
Open the trafic to the cluster of containers

The cluster will naturally scale down

You should be annoyed because this is becoming a normal thing. Companies are not held liable and they do as they please. We as customers just have to be OK with whatever is thrown at us. Or not given to us. Everyone knows new games have a high chance of not being finished. Everyone know launches are a shit show. But it should not be that way!

Sad to realease a 1.0 and its not working .

Disappointing is the least I can say. You downed us for 24 hours, you saw you had Million+ sales and you still couldn’t scale and handle 150k players?

You’ve had so many years of development, you have had so many opportunities to stress test your systems (even if artificially), and you’ve even had time to scale based on sales. But like every other money grubby company you dont take action beforehand. You see how bad it gets, then take action and the action you take is still limited. You dont want to overspend to over-scale to then have to scale back due to the inevitable drop-off of player base. This way you dont undercut your sales but at sacrifice new and old players.

I hope you know this really is pathetic for any development company in 2024.

Relax people, I’m sure this is due to everyone’s stashes loading at the same time so we can trade, I’m sure this will be fixed soon.

Palworld has better service than this lol considering this game was released years ago…

this was the most intelligent thing i’ve read on here, and a viable solution, but what about the switches leading in that are being absolutely bombarded? The container problem is a simple solution, but the funnel leading to the servers is usually the culprit (and out of the renting companies hands)

Exactly dude, this is it. The way the devs have treated the game and its players from conception to now is so rare in this industry. It’s a bummer that the servers aren’t up to snuff currently but people out here acting like EHG is scamming them is just crazy. They’ve earned the benefit of the doubt, I believe they’ll handle the situation as quickly as they can. Sucks that these things “should be expected” but thats the truth. If it went smoothly nobody would be geeking out about how smooth the launch went.

Palworld had the exact same problems for the first 2-3 days of launch and helldivers 2 is having those issues as well. A lot of people are trying to play the same awesome games at the same time.

@EHG_Kain will there be a reset when servers are stable? This is creating an unfair advantage for those who were lucky…
