The bug is still here on linux since more than one year…

Edit : tested via Proton and it works

Same issue here, no character models shown on creating new character or selecting existing character on native linux client - game works fine after I select a character and start playing.

Same problem - even though it was fixed / it worked fine in the Multiplayer Beta

It solved for me with the new update.

I have that issue on Steam Deck even with the latest 9e patch

My bad. I was using Proton version, and i didn’t see it. It’s always broken with Linux native version. It begins to become pitiful.

Hey there!

I bought the game recently, please fix this bug, I guess it’s the only one you notice when you start the game. Looks like it’s been here for long.

Here’s the screen I get:

Please, this game looks really cool, help us fixing this! Not sure if anyone else experiences the same but even if I try going with Proton. It has really big drawbacks on this case.

On Linux seems to work really well, maybe there’s some minor bug but the character selection I’d say is the most noticeable right now.

Bug is still here

@dev_team
If you don’t want to support the native linux version, say it. But don’t make us waiting an answer.

New player, just did a fresh install, Pop OS, RX6600, amdgpu/Mesa stack.
Bug present on latest 0.9j patch.

Please fix this, how can I pick a name for my character if I cannot see if it’s him or her?

bumpity bump bump. I can try and find the Proton patch in gerrit that fixed this, I’ll try to look through the commits, going to try it with the earliest version of proton and see when it actually started working, so I know where to start.

I have just built my new amd cpu/amd gpu pc with a Linux os (pop_os), my previous pc also ran in Linux so I didn’t expect any trouble with reloading Steam or LE. Once I was fully up and running I entered LE in native Linux to find a ghostly character presence in the creation and selection screens. In addition all my local characters were missing (nothing at all registered in the local tab). This did not affect play with my online characters in any way once I selected and entered the game.

I read this bug report and immediately loaded up proton 8.0. After a wait on the download I started up LE in proton and …viola!! the ghosts have gone and my missing local characters are back.

More than one year, bug is still there and no dev answer.
Diablo 4 is almost here, so my choice is done. Adios

Just bought and installed the game (at the end of this post there are my system specs)

  1. Tried with proton and the game runs perfectly but I can get no more than 30 fps no matter what proton version I choose.

  2. Linux native (steam runtime) runs great and I get 120-170 fps @ 1080p medium settings. However there are 2 major problems : a) each time I run the game a window appears that warns me the the game stopped responding (wait/force quit), but in the meantime it opens normally, so I press “wait” and I can play. b) The character models in the character creation screen are invisible

Same issue, linux native, up-to-date Arch kernel, AMD system.

Same here. It’s really annoying to look at. Is Linux a second-class citizen for this game?

This bug was fixed by a very smart guy (*works for radeon GPUs, not for nvidia, unknown for intel).

You can fix it in under a minute. Instructions here: Reddit - Dive into anything

I can confirm that the bug hasn’t been solved by the developers yet. But the solution which tux2 pointed to, did work for my Radeon card.

I asked Mike (I think that’s how he is called) during Q&A stream on 14th July about linux bug fixes and he answered that he saw an interesting fix in forums (I bet he was referring to this one) and forward it to the appropriate dev team. Let’s hope we see a fix for this issue soon.

Here is the stream timestamped at 51:03
