Anyway, don’t know about you guys, but I am really looking forward to 0.8.5.
And beyond.
These new dungeons should be good, and the graphics / playability improves with each patch.
This is going to be great.
See how the game is now, how good it has become.
In one year, we’ll look at it and say “see how poor it was, compared to today”
I’m looking forward to seeing what they’re going to do with the new dungeons, and whether the bosses will be as technical/mechanic heavy as Julra. I’m also curious what the reward will be, and obviously how multiplayer will pan out with all of these systems.
Same.
I really hope not. In my opinion, Julra is far too mechanical, that removes all the fun. It’s not about how you fight her, it’s about how you’re good at positioning.
I hope the incoming bosses will be (relatively) hard, but not as mechanical as Julra is.
But that’s why we have T1-4
On T1-2 your room for mistakes is HUUUGE.
T3 definitely already needs a solid build to still allow mistakes.
Only T4 is really punishing.
Julra is the first of it’s kind, from a difficulty perspective (At least on T4).
And Mike and Reimerh said on the dev stream, that the plan is to keep the 4 Tier Mechanic in all dungeons, it’s a core function of the system.
And I think this is really good, because we need really hard fights in LE.
The most important question is, what will be T3 and most importantly T4 exclusive in the new dungeons.
Because right now in terms of Legendaries, only a few very high level uniques require T4 Julra to upgrade them to Legendaries, and these type of items are already so rare/powerful, that you do not need to upgrade them to a legendary to make the viable.
I like the Julra fight. It’s a good mix of dodging, knowledge of game mechanics, and damage requirement. If you are strong in one area, you can kind of overcompensate for deficiencies in the others (to a point).
I still haven’t killed T3 yet on any of my characters. I’ve gotten pretty good at avoiding the void beams and placing the void pools (or preventing them by double shifting in time). What usually kills me at this point is trying to dodge void beams + her water cone + the ice homing missile attack. I think I need to get better at recognizing when they’re going to overlap & use that as a time to shift out, or maybe I just need more HP, but I haven’t gotten to try it yet because I found a few new builds I’m having fun leveling.
I think for me personally, it’s just a difference in viewpoints. I believe that even on the hardest difficulty, you shouldn’t be one-shot by mostly unavoidable damage (mostly that seeking ice missile attack) or by quickly ticking damage like one tick of the void pools or one tick of the void beams. Repeated hits or overlapping hits? Sure. But from a game design perspective, and considering the requirement to get into the dungeon (keys) and the “only one chance per key” aspect, one tick of void shouldn’t kill you if you have max void resistances.
Other than that, it’s a fun fight. I usually enjoy it even if I mess up and die (as long as I can clearly see that I failed to dodge something). Except for that damned seeking attack. That thing just angers me to no end.
Sure, but I still think this fight is all about positioning and nothing about fighting. It’s a kind of Tetris game. The fight against Majasa is far more fun, even if less dangerous.
But in an aRPG like LE, what does “fighting” mean if it’s not positioning? It’s not like we have different types of melee attacks (quick/medium/heavy) that have different effects against each other in a rock/paper/scissors kinda thing.
While I don’t like mechanical fights myself (nor endgames in general, except in PoE for some reason), I have to agree with that. The campaign is far too easy, and I believe part of what makes the monolith so boring is that echoes are also way too fast and easy.
But…
I also 100% agree with that. This feels like repeating a pattern until you get all the moves inch perfect.
But to be fair, I can’t think of any game not falling into this pit. MMOs are even worse, any raid boss feels like learning a complex choregraphy.
If there is a way around this issue, it has still to be invented…
PS: when I said I was excited about the new dungeons, I was just trying to divert attention from the 3 annoying ramblers. I couldn’t care less about dungeons, based on the first one i probably won’t play them, so my opinion could and should be safely ignored.
Well, it depends on what the dungeons are about. If the reward is worthy, it can be OK.
But I play the current dungeon rarely, I don’t like this kind of labyrinth and I don’t like Julra. I go there only when I have something to craft.
This is what I was alluding to when I was wondering what the purpose of the dungeons will be.
Sometimes I take my characters into the Sanctum just for the increased exalted drops, sometimes I go in there just to try and see how fast I can kill Julra, occasionally I will try to finally kill T3, and I definitely run in there when I have a Unique with an exalted ready to upgrade it.
Only two reasons for me to do the dungeon…
- I have a legendary I want to craft
- I want to test a build against Julra on any tier.
If thats what the Devs intended with the Dungeon then they succeeded… if not, well, back to the drawing board for the next Dungeon.
The RNGGods have not been kind to me regarding Exalted farming (in dungeons) - I get many more from highish corruption Monos and while the Dungeon map is “random” its boring as hell once you understand the general pattern and have fought the same mobs over and over again.
Yeah, I haven’t really ventured into empowered monoliths yet, so the dungeon has been good for farming. I don’t particularly like the nagas, but the void monsters are usually a safe clear, and it’s usually worth it just for the drops if I don’t just rush to the boss.
To be fair, I think D3 and PoE have me in a space where fighting the same monsters over and over isn’t a horrible thing. At least there’s no lightmages or embermages in there, or Ogres or the Holy beam ladies.
Edit: Ignore this part, bad reading of my part, thanks for the correction @Llama8
I didn’t read much information about them, just random things here and the LE wiki (and is not like I really found excited what I found at all), but replace them for 2 dungeons who you need to revisite the campaign to access them -like the Temporal Sanctum-, with his new respective rewards like the Eternity Cache, I see it as a good decision.
Talking about adding more Dungeons, I really like that because rewards aren’t just an exagerated loot explosion, but reward the player with a specific system that make people to chase to improve his items/characters. It makes it feel like really worth go to defeat these bosses. I don’t mind at all to be mechanical fights, they need to have something special that reminds us that they are not just another boss to kill as quickly as possible, but I agree when people say that need to be balanced around all classes, so it will be a hard but fair fight for all.
This surprise me. The first message I wrote here when I buy the game was about to try understand more the Bazaar system. When I really accept that can be healthy (and for that, maybe the best decision) for the game trying to avoid RMT, bots, etc., it was really a shame that we can’t have a properly trade system because of these type of people. I know veteran people here don’t want it for this and because they are afraid of drop rates being lowered when multiplayer arrives, it’s understandable 100%, nobody wants a beloved game to deal with these problems that harm the community or your enjoyment, but it would be nice if there is still a way to make it possible. Trade is a big part of this type of games.
This might sound a bit ridiculous, but for a lot of people nothing is better than get a shiny loot knowing that it’s valuable on the game market (example: see the reactions of people in PoE when they get a Mirror of Kalandra). If you guys find something to deal with these mentioned problems and even don’t touch the drop rates for people who like to play singleplayer to make a trade system possible, then more than PERFECT.
The Arena champions sound as an interesting concept (Arena mode needs something else anyway, unless it’s only purpose is to figure in a top-ten scoreboard) and the models looks really good, I like them. I’m really positive about the future of the game. Thanks for the hard work and keep this way!
I know English isn’t your mother-tongue, but hey aren’t replacing Epoch’s Call and Gates of Memoriam with 2 Dungeons. The 2 Dungeons are what is being added in the next patch with more to come later.
They said that they will be replacing (kinda) Epoch’s Call with the Favour system and Gates of Memoriam with the Dungeon system (not a specific Dungeon).
Indeed, at this point English shouldn’t give me problems, but anyways it does. Maybe I read too quickly, so thank you for the correction I’ll check my comment again.
I understand wrong what they are. It means will be something different. I’ll wait when they add more info about them to see what expect. Anyway big +1 for adding new dungeons. I really like them.
I hated trade in PoE, and would rather see group trade (like D3) or even no trade at all before seeing LE do the direct trade thing. There were too many crooks, price fixers , scam artists, and AFK’ers in direct trading. Thankfully they said they have something in mind, and knowing LE it will be an equitable solution of some sort =) It does build the tension waiting to see though…
the reasons I trade is because it gives my gameplay more meaning than if I was playing solo. sometimes I don’t even buy gear in PoE, I craft it and sell the gear I don’t need. because it feels good to make your own gear but also give gear you find to other people.
having a conversation via trade is different than via chat. some people would never spark up a conversation in chat but maybe they’d do it if they were trading with you because its a different dynamic. and it just opens up the game massively. the game is no longer just you in a bubble, its potentially anybody who could trade with you. either you get it or you don’t I guess, I’m not going to keep explaining it. it is what it is I guess
Although it is understandable as a lot of us have come here originally from PoE, this obsession with us comparing things to PoE can get a little out of hand. I’m guilty of it myself on occasions and I do find me correcting myself when I can.
Let us not forget that this is NOT PoE, it is LE. So, how about we let the devs release what they want to release, and then examine it from within THIS game based on how it performs within LE?
If you like the PoE trading, great, PoE is there for you to play. If not, same goes.
Let’s please try to stop speculating on how a mechanic yet unknown will fit into a Multiplayer which has yet to be released in LE based on our preconceptions from another game altogether. It’s not really productive for our game here imho. Remember, that while some love PoE, there are also a lot of us who no longer like the game, and also some of us who would no longer even install it any more. That’s why I think it’s important to approach our perspectives fresh and only from an LE perspective, otherwise we’re already bringing in unrelated mental “baggage”
Personally, I think we all need to wait on a ton more information from the devs on what LE MP will even look like before worrying about the minutia details within that unknown platform. No doubt there will be loads of healthy discussions to be had once we get more details on everything coming up. I do think though that we’ll be a lot more fruitful in our discussions if we bear in mind that it’s how it fits into LE that counts, not how what is going on here would fit into another game altogether.
It’s also perfectly normal and should be expected to compare two games in the same genre.
