Zooming out
I search and find a topic with the same suggestion years ago, but… still no futher improvement in game.
Hope we can get wider view with zooming out, for game play and for the atmospheres.
Gold selling
I think the gold selling is really annoying for everyone, you really need to find a way to stop the spamming and also let us do reports for some little help.
Languages
Simply just need more languages options in game (not just chat channel).
Just want to second the zoom level. I think we miss a lot of the game world detail with the current camera zoom level. I’d really like to be able to zoom out another 15-30% (or so) to appreciate the environment more. I feel I don’t notice the distinct areas of the game very well with the current max zoom.
A good example is walking along the raised walkway into Maj’elka upper district. You don’t get the proper sense of the massive bridge structure you’re crossing.
The game is designed around the current zoom level, meaning that aggro ranges and models are to a degree based on that, as well as likely world borders beyond the screen. So changing that won’t be happening, or at least very unlikely so… and ill-advised for EHG to do.
Yes, gold-selling is annoying, but kinda hard to deal with. The reason they exist is because bots can exist which acrue gold easily enough. This happens because MG is a mess, enforcing high knowledge on how scarcity and customer behavior happens to make the most of it, be it consciously or unconsciously done so.
Fixing MG from the bottom up (and there’s a ton to fix) will reduce the quantity substantially. The second being that proper anit-botting measures need to be in place. Namely ban-waves (instead of instant banning, more damage to the botting networks), account recovery improvements (which can happen from RMT site usage and costs substantial amounts of MTX and word-of-mouth revenue) and proper communication related to those topics to showcase a positive outcome besides pure perception basis to us as customers.
As for language options… EHG’s translators can’t even get their shit together in the most common languages, several of them being an atrocity beyond end doing damage to the perception of the game, first that needs to be solved before putting out another shoddy extra one that causes a small sub-base of people to be able to play while damaging perception of the product towards those choosing it despite having a choice by using english as an example. That’s an ongoing thing in the whole gaming sector nowadays sadly.
It’s the absolute fundamentals of gameplay design and a given…
…otherwise the game would be a stain of crap. You learn such stuff in the first month of gameplay design if you take an official developer course.
PoE developers have also explained this. They have all kinds of graphical hacks to make things look good from 1 particular perspective. Fully building up the game world would require more resources, including to run the game. An example of a gameplay issue is targetting spells beyond aggro-range. You could see the enemies and lauch your attacks before they notice you, never getting into any danger. Or with shield charge, you could launch the perfect one of a long range.
And maybe that is what you want. Of course we all know that a wider perspective would give the player a gameplay advantage. But what kind of combat do the developers want? And would it be balanced?
That was all for point 1. For the other two I can be quick. 2. I play CoF only. 3. As a non-english speaker I don’t want the game translated in my native language and would not use it if they did.
I never said anything about a rotating camera or changing the perspective.
I just want a further zoom. Yes sure, you’d need to change aggro radius and perhaps some skill ranges, but to me, that’s worth doing to feel more immersed in the environment. Unless there’s some heavy culling of objects just outside the screen, I’m not seeing it fundamentally causing issues with the levels?
I think you’re overthinking it. It’s been done in other games, it doesn’t impact the gameplay as much as you might think (except maybe PoE1 where you can wipe things as far as the eye can see and more all the time), the player can still only move so far.
Of course it can be done, but requires extra resources. I feel more immersed zoomed in. I don’t see how zooming out will increase immersion? Also, it won’t be just a range thing, there is a reeason zooming out almost always changes the angle of the camera. I don’t know what that reason is, but I suspect that there would be other problems if the zoom out would just be an increase in the range.
From what I remember I think it can make the player proportions seem off (tiny feet, etc) or something like that. As I mentioned, for example the bridge into Maj’elka. I suppose one main issue could be the vertical models have a set height and if they don’t go above the camera level currently they’d have to be extended.
