Zone Layout and Graphical Style

So I’m not sure if this has been posted already but I really find quite a lot of the zone layouts to be overly large and confusing. Navigating through them ends up feeling a bit of a chore - lots of small passages, dead ends etc. It would be nice if there were more open areas and the zones were a bit smaller and less repetitive…

Which brings me onto the graphics - now I know it’s EA but the void inhabited zones just don’t look that good. When I jumped into a rift and it took me to a jungle it was such a breath of fresh air! Everything looked so much better. I really think the void era zones need to be dressed up a bit, they’re just very uninspiring to look at. The whole colour palette could be broadened, including that of the void enemies themselves.

Don’t get me wrong I love the game, and I’m posting this because I want it to success, but I really think zone layout and graphics need to be looked at in the future - specifically the void areas.

Agree. Also not just the colour palette of the void enemies but their models as well. Feels too generic and bland. While I get the broad intent which is probably to suggest that these are formless creatures, there surely must be more creative ways to convey that while making the void monsters feel interesting and varied.

Agree too. Plus I don’t feel the magic spells, it’s kinda generic and boring. So i’ll not play a caster at the moment.

I mean the spell effects I can live with, I think that’s a fairly easy fix that will come with time. But zone layout, style and monster theme is more concerning as I think it will put people off.

As I said some zones look bright, colourful and atmospheric and a couple of the bosses I’ve fought have looked great - I just don’t want to wade through so many overly long and intricate dark zones filled with purple blob creatures. I’m already thinking ‘do I want to go through that with multiple characters’ and the answer at the moment is ‘no’. Lack of mob variety isn’t necessarily a bad thing if they are well realised, the void just feel thrown together.

Really hope this is addressed as the core gameplay and systems are fantastic.

Plus, avatar selection screen/wallpapers is too old school style.
A style closer to neverwinter nights or something cool/dark would be perfect.

Off topic, and already being addressed by the devs (and mentioned in their latest dev update)…thread is about ZONE graphical style, not other areas of graphical quality.

On topic: they also noted updates to some areas graphics, so…this thread should have just not been made and updates should have been read. :expressionless:

I think things like this need to be brought to the attention of the devs, that’s surely what EA is for? Also I didn’t just mention zone graphical style but layout and void models too.
