If you could create a build without being restricted by class, what would you build? I.E you could be a Beastmaster with summon skeleton, or be a Sorcerer and put points in the Shaman tree. What 5 skills would you use, and where would most of your passive points go?
I’d go with a Beastmaster, Wolves with as much attack speed as I could give them, put some points into the Sorcerer tree for flat adaptive damage, and have Holy Aura specced to proc flame burst. Probably throw in dread shade for the attack speed it can give, as well as Flame Ward and Shift for utility.
But you aren’t using any damaging spells (apart from Flame Burst, though that’s an ailment so you’d want as much hit speed as possible)?
I’d probably go with a Void Knight (echoes), with the Aspect of the Shark nodes from Beastmaster (including the ones at the top of the tree to make it stack) for bonkers attack speed, Holy Aura, one of Flurry/Serpent Strike/Vengeance, all the glancing blow from the Bladedancer tree, Earthquake (mana dump), Anomaly (leech, CDR, crit, etc) & Lunge (crit chance).
The damaging spell would be Holy Aura with the node at the top right of the tree for Flame Burst, and have the minions be the ones to proc it with their attack speed. The entire build would be focused around having melee minions to proc Flame Burst as quickly as possible.
I’m not entirely sure Flame Burst can be proc’d by minions since it’s coded as an ailment (Warpath’s reduced ailment chance means it can take more than 8/4 hits to proc).
I didn’t know that. I just read the line “After an enemy takes 8 melee hits a Flame Burst is unleashed”. Assuming it’s an ailment, yeah the build doesn’t work. I’d like it to work though. I imagine come MP it could be a bit strong, possibly having a paladin and beastmaster/necro duo to kill bosses quite quickly with all the melee procs.
I’d probably play a Lich. I would surround her with Devouring Orbs, while she would cast Smite against all targets and of course leech tons of health.
She would be assisted by a pack of wolves, but I would like them dead, dealing necrotic damage and linked to her like Wandering Spirits, not like minions.
She would of course Transplant and use a sustainable version of Reaper Form.
I was going to say that you probably wouldn’t want 4 Paladins & I think you probably still wouldn’t, but you’d definitely want at least 1 Necro with a load of minions for them to benefit from the “+1 stack of Flame Burst ailment” effect of that node. Maybe 2 Pallys (assuming the effect from both Holy Auras stack which they should given that’s what the active part of that node does) & 2 Wraith Necros?
Poison/Fire Wraiths don’t body block themselves. Even if/when Wraiths get capped on the number you can spawn, them on top of Skellies/Mages would be better than just Skellies/Mages in terms of as many projectiles as possible.
I really want to try this, it sounds awesome…
And I’m curious as to how much of an impact Wraiths are in the current build EHG are testing for MP.
Flame Burst can only be stacked by melee hits, so ranged minions would not work.
Edit: Also, I think you can get more minion attack speed on primalists, enough to overcome the fewer number of minions, also primalists themselves can get large amounts of attack speed to continue to proc more Flame Bursts. This is why I said I would prefer wolves in my ultimate build.
Yeah, fair point, I’d forgotten or overlooked that…
Probably a Aspect of the Shark stacking Primalist would be more effective for that since they share the monumental amount of Shark stacks with their companions.
