1-- At higher levels, we need 50-100,000 XP to advance a level and a mission awards 2000 XP. If it were 0 XP we wouldn’t notice the difference in our progression.
2-- Coupled with the fact that we have to replay the campaign for every alt (and after every death in HC) every season, over and over, this is all telling us that our time is not valued. It’s basically just gatekeeping the fun in trying out new builds…or the “fun” in dying and retrying in HC.
If you feel that the campaign is important, then give it some meaning to us, as well. I’m speaking of our real-life time, not meaningful to our characters.
The VERY first thing that Diablo IV did on their season launch was remove the requirement to re-do the Renown from scratch with every Season. Don’t be more stubborn than Blizzard.
3-- Also this game’s story isn’t complete. When the campaign continues are we still going to be earning 2000 XP at 70th level? You might as well start scaling it now
4-- One way to keep the game the way it is (endlessly playing the campaign) but rewarding us for the repetition could be increasing the XP for a mission based on how many times we’ve already done that mission, or how many times we’ve completed the entire campaign.
Again, I think this is only necessary for quests that do not award Idols or Passives. Those already value our time.
5-- If you don’t want to scale based on prior completions, then at least scale it based on our level. When a quest reward contains no Passive and no Idols, we should be earning at least 5% of a a level. AT LEAST.
As soon as you reach the end of time you can simply start doing monolith and get better XPs. The campaign is already easy enough. If you do the full thing you’ll end it at level 50 which is more than enough for monos.
What you’re proposing would simply make it that eventually you’re level 100 before you end up the campaign and it’s not a good idea.
You don’t need to finish the campaign already. You can skip as many quests as you want and you can use dungeons to skip large parts of it. In the future, this will even be rebalanced so that you can skip almost all the campaign. So there’s no need to change the quests XPs. They’re token rewards and they could award 0 XPs and still be fine.
I’d rather they just let us skip the campaign entirely and just run a training wheel mono or something to get our idols and passives. ARPG stories are good once or twice but then they feel like a roadblock to having fun. Someday a dev will make an ARPG with minimal story and pure player freedom.
There will be campaign skips in the future. Dungeons will be rebalanced so you can actually run them at lower levels (they already skip huge portions of the campaign) and alternative ways to get the quest rewards will be introduced.
Good to hear. I quit POE in no small part due to the required campaign. I only returned for their endless delve events which gave you campaign rewardd based on level I believe, as you could only do delve and were locked to their starting zone when not in a delve.
