Is the game launching with a season 1? I want to know if there is any benefit to start a new character at the launch date or if I should just start now.
Cycle one starts when 1.0 drops. But there wonât be a content difference between the two. Cycle is basically just a stash reset if you wanted to start fresh.
so there will be no special content/theme for cycle 1?
Probably not. And to be honest, I hope not.
There are still a lot of key elements missing, some of them coming with season 1, the biggies being Warlock and Falconer.
I believe (or I hope) the focus is first to add the missing content, like classes and campaign, before focusing on temporary new mechanics.
and improving the very bad performance of the game in its current state. also much more important then adding content. we need a very well round up game and THEN we need content.
Yes, that is what the devs are planning. They have said before that the first few cycles will be to introduce core elements to the game. So maybe they can be viewed more like mini-expansions rather than classic-like seasons from other games like PoE.
As far as I remember the first league that shipped with PoE 1.0.0 was Domination which was basically shrines. The next league shipped with 1.1.0 was Ambush which was strongboxes. So back then league content was pretty slim and simple compared to the new league mechanics. Shrines and strongboxes are so core features nowadays that most people donât even know/remember those were once league content.
This kind of small content can easily be added to the game each cycle, they are easy to integrate into the core game permanently so itâs not like many PoE league content that was basically thrown away after 3 months.
They have to add SOMETHING each cycle or people wonât start a new character because, frankly, why would they?
Yes, this has been a ongoing discussion. Basically, some players need incentives to play new seasons, others donât. For example, D2 had lots of players joining new seasons for years even though there was no new content there. Most just joined for the fresh start and fresh economy. Although, to be fair, D2 had ladder-only runewords that were key components to the game.
So far, the main difference between PoE and LE is that PoE makes season content locked to seasons. If that content goes core, standard players get a watered down version of it. So standard players never experience the full mechanic like league players do. Even the first expansions did this.
In LE, season content is also available immediately to the standard players. At least for now while theyâre working on the core mechanics they want to keep in the game.
Weâll have to see how it evolves and hope that EHG comes up with an innovative system for their cycles, but I donât expect many changes to come for a couple cycles yet. Hope Iâm wrong, though
The âcontentâ for cycle 1 is the introduction of the item factions.
How long is each cycle? Sorry I am new.
EHG does not give specifics, but they said it will be similar to other games using the these kind of systems.
So anything between 3 and 4 months is a good guess
Theyâve said itâll be 3-4 months.
Each cycle is 3 months. Also, I guess the Necromancer isnât the only thing around here that can raise things from the dead.
To be fair, this is better than simply making a new thread. It shows that he bothered to search for an answer and didnât find one, so he tried to ask his question in a relevant thread that already existed.
I was saying the OP can literally raise the dead. I saw him using an army of zombies to slowly type out this post.
