And Boradman21 you should know this, the majority of your builds are like MAYBE 1 unique and the rest yellow items that are rolled almost perfect. Why are they called Unique when they arent? I love this game but it justs frustrates me to the point of no end, because of RNG on RNG on RNG. Prove me wrong, show me 1 build that can clear the whole game with random items. Bet you can’t do it.
You can easily beat the game only wearing unique. In fact you cam beat the game not wearing anything at all. @FoE has done it…
I stated that I know it’s EA, but that doesn’t mean A lot is gonna change when its a full game. I was one of the people that whined about GB, and guess what they changed it, kinda. In my first post I said what they can change. I want this game to be better. But it’s not gonna happen when White Knights think they know everything, and dismiss other peoples opinions. And I know that Steam doesn’t account for all players. But when when steam has one and 3k and another at 800 you honestly don’t think that repsensts player base? What you think that GB is only on steam? Or even Chronicon? You’re better than this. I know you love this game, I have watched pretty much every build you have done for this game. You are the man when it comes to this game. But that doesn’t mean the game is doing poorly. When you have GD whos been out for many years, still doing higher numbers than this new ARPG, and then you have a 1 person team doing an ARPG doing better numbers than this game, your telling me that doesn’t have you consired? THe developers of the this game are heavy hitters. Yet 1/3 of them are playing this game. Come on man. That is some ignorant shit.

The “punishment” in LE is a joke from my point of view. I played games where one death or one PK set you back for days or even weeks. Even PoE punishes deaths by a lot later on and is doing fine.
The main problem I see with LE is the random oneshots every now and then but this got better a lot. Right now, if you have a build that works and synergyses well, you can facetank everything but osk mechanics.
So maybe take a deep breath, look at what killed you and why and if you simply are able to opt. stuff to avoid it in the future and be a happy panda there after. IF there is no setback for messing up it’s just kind of a bad joke. We don’t have rep costs or stuff like that in LE so the only way to spice things up is to set people back so they might come up with a solution when they are back at the point they’ve been before.
Yes I’m okay with this and have another point of view buuuuuut I’m intrested what you want and how you like things handled in the future. maybe you have a great idea besides all the rambling. The on death penalty in LE is pretty tame. you lose some Echo progress or your Arena run. the point is to re-evaluate your build or playstyle and try again
Path of Exiles death penalty is severe and you mention Chronicon…which actually has a similar penalty to LE if you die in Elite Anomaly you are kicked out and have to restart EVEN if you are 99% done - get over it
in PoE you die at 99 and you just lost 2-4 hours of XP farming - my builds in PoE largely only die from big player error/disconnections - the reason is im so against death and losing XP my char is built that way

You guys keep talking about Failing in PoE, the problem is if you fail in PoE youre bad, its not because you couldn’t roll said item that you want.
What games do that to you that set you back days or even weeks? Havn’t played an ARPG that does that.

Here is level 100 Empowered Abomination Naked Abom - YouTube I am using only a white leather belt for the potions (Leather belt gives zero stats) No weapon, no idols. Other bosses are doable as well without any issues. With that being said it is possible. Now as for the other stuff, Devs do listen to feedback even if they don’t reply. Penalties in games are what keeps us on our toes, what makes things interesting. If there was nothing that could ever fail, why would you even bother trying to focus and trying to become better at the game?
If I could just beat a game without any effort I would never feel like I actually achieved something. If anything they should make the penalties much harder, like if you fail a mono you are sent back to echo 1 for example, seems fair to me, this will force you to analyze your build and your play style and make changes, somewhere you will still face a “wall” and not be able to progress further, this is fine to me, this means you can start a new character on a different class and try something completely different and see if you can progress further with that class.
I used to play hardcore only in Diablo 2, if you die there your character is just gone, you loose all your items, all your progress and everything. The trick? Don’t die, get better, learn from whatever mistake you did and try again.
lol i mean you are prolly one of the reasons why i can’t find a game i like these days. good items shouldn’t be tossed at you without a lot of effort… else how will you feel rewarded. in D2 i remember grinding for tons of time to try and get that one piece i wanted never finding anything other than sigons and junk. Thats what made the actual find rewarding. it’s almost the same here exept they let you hope before … (not like you could see what might drop from a boss before its dead in other games) so true it might be upsetting to lose progress but thats what generate a sence of tension and fear of dying and emotions from playing… else this would be just another trash like what they did with D3… here run stuff and craft the same shit everyone else has cause nothing is special here everyone get everything! yay… then what do you have to do? get bored and get another game… nty i rather try hard and be the one guy that got that one piece of gear everyone wish they had.

It appears that you don’t know what that means because you compare LE as it is now (early access/beta) to Grim Dawn as it is now (released several years ago). If you roll back the GD chart to the beginning it had between 100 & 700 for most of 2014 when it was in early access, kinda like LE. Funny how you neglected to mention that.
You also neglect to mention that every other game (even noughts & crosses!) punishes you if you fail. GD takes some of your xp away (though you can get some of that back) if you die & resets your cruicible run (though you can start at higher waves than in arena).
LE has changed significantly over the last 3 patches, they introduced the monolith quest echoes (bosses with specific unique drops) & re-worked the protections defensive system to match every other aRPG. They’ve even said that they intend to introduce a death penalty (again, bringing it into line with every virtually other aRPG).
But they probably won’t stop punishing you for failing, or giving you an “I win” button or medal.
Then you clearly haven’t played PoE.
I hope the devs listen hard to what you are saying here. These are great suggestions to make the game better for everyone.
Crafting is indeed too hard and we should have an item editor to get any item we want. I think we should minimally be able to freely edit up to T20 gears. Bonus points to the devs if they allow us to add T6/7 affixes. Getting good item is what ARPGs is about. Why are they making me play the game to get good items???
I also agree uniques are garbage in this game. Back in the days, we have godly plate of whale and king’s sword of heaven/haste, obsidian ring/amulet of the zodiac in D1. Now that’s what I call an unique!
Also a great point raised on monolith progress. No one has time to waste on losing progress. Why should we be penalized for failing an echo? We should just be able to power through them. We want to feel powerful in games we play. Not feel like a complete twat for failing mono. Maybe we should get an invulnerability aura every time we’re about to die. That should help minimize the unfun moments.
Anyway OP. I’m sure the devs will be implementing these suggestions soon. Clearly GB was changed all because you raised the point. If these devs can even think, they know they must implement your ideas.
My opinion is there has to be some kind of penalty for death. If you die then it is your mistake either in gearing or careless gameplay or wrong skills… whatever. The penalty PoE has is too much imo. When you lose 10% exp at lvl 94+ it is really frustrating as fck. On the other hand the death penalty in LE is relatively moderate and reasonable.
As for crafting I think it’s in a good position atm. Fractures add some risk vs reward thing to crafting and that is good. I damaged many items and that was frustration but on the other hand I made several very very nice items and they give me those moments of joy and excitement i estimate very high in every aRPG game.
If everything can be acquired too easy that makes a game boring very quickly. So there should be a good balance between penalty and reward and I believe LE is very close to that balance now.
