I was playing around lil bit recently with EQ and I am wondering why it feels so clunky to play?
By numbers it is amazing, 700% added dmg effect, lot of more dmg mult. nodes etc.
But somehow i did not make it work. Sure it is a good bosskiller, but mapping with a EQ build is a pain in the ass.
Even with foot of the mountain and minus mana nodes EQ costs more than 30 mana per use. You can clear 1-2 packs and then you are oom.
All EQ builds regen mana with swipe and 100000% attack speed, which also doesnt feel good. Quiet a long downtime to get full mana back, meaning you cant do your EQ dps during that time.
Spamming EQ on 2 packs- oom - running to another pack - melee attacking it for mana regen - repeat.
Did someone found a way to make EQ more viable/to get rid of mana sustain problem?
I mean, with how much damage EQ does, you shouldn’t need to spam it. A single EQ should rekt any basic mob with stragglers getting culled by your Swipe.
Most hit based EQ use it with the triple hit node and you can regain your mana by Swipe/Tempest Strike/Gathering storm within the 2 sec cooldown.
My favorite EQ build so far is the lightning-phys spell EQ.
I only use EQ to kill bosses and beefy monsters. Everything else on the map is cleared with Gathering Storm + Thorn Totems + Maelstrom, all those converted to physical, to maintain 15+ stacks on gathering storm all the time + get huge amount of global physical damage from Maelstrom.
But yes, all EQ builds feel kinda lacking, specifically because of the mana sustain. Definitely not weak, just clunky to play it feels.
Even the strongest ones need some time to get mana back, but they generally just melt any boss after a full unload of their mana as EQ.
