When searching for items in MG please list our own items first, with 0 gold cost

Last night I was listing things on MG and noticed I have 60 pages of stuff listed now. I thought, “If I switched to a new build, I wonder how many of the items I’ve listed for sale would be good for that build without me even knowing it?”

There’s no way to search for mods in our own listed items, but (a) it may be a bit more work to add that, and (b) that would mean we’d have to search in two separate places when we’re looking for items.

I suspect it would be faster/easier for you to modify the code that displays search results from the current vendors such that “if seller ID = searching account ID then set its gold and reputations prices set to zero”.

If you did it this way we would only need to search in one location (from the relevant vendor), and simply select to list lowest priced items first.

a) That should’ve been taken into consideration when making the UI of the system… since it would be a basic use-case anyway for someone listing many items.
Imagine you selling 2000+ items and someone asks you personally ‘Hey, got an item with ‘xyz’?’ and now you gotta search for it.
Fun experience…

and b) that has no measure of meaning. Function should be where function can be expected to be used. If it’s double or triple or more copies of it doesn’t matter.

Yes, it would be, and it would also be another one of the bandaids of MG without actually one time doing it properly and right. It’s been friggin 10 months by now and the issues mentioned at Day 1 haven’t even been handled by now, not to speak of things which have come up beyond.

Your response seems unnecessarily negative. but to reply to this:

Yes, it does. I don’t want to have to search in my stall first for items I’m selling that could be options for what I want, and then separately go to another vendor and look at what’s being listed publicly. It would be better to just have our own items highlighted in the public search matches so I can then compare/contrast my own items against other similar items and have them both on the screen together so I can decide which item I’d prefer to either delist or buy.

Now, if you want to say that you’d ALSO like to be able to search one’s stall that’s fine, but that’s not what I’ve requested in this feedback/suggestion. it might be nice to have both, but if I had to pick one or the other I would absolutely prefer what I’ve suggested. And I also think it should be easier for the devs to implement, therefore making it at least slightly more likely that they might be able to implement it quicker/easier, despite your apparent belief that dev manhours shouldn’t matter.

I’m all for the highlighting, which would be a good solution for half the issue.

The other half is that personal requests (not someone walking to the vendors hence, but to you) are impossible to handle currently.
Example: If you’re playing with a group of friends and you’re selling 500+ items then you’ve got quite the issue if one of them asks ‘Hey, got a idol with maxed %Health at hand?’
The current state is you’ve got much hassle in front of you.
The highlighting on the market doesn’t help, you still need to then fiddle it out from your list.
Hence a search function in the personal sales is also a thing which would be needed.

The highlighting is great for one thing.
The double-search functionality is great for another thing.
Both should be implemented over time when the core aspects broken have been fixed.

Your example simply showcased a range of issues which also can come up and should be handled right away so it won’t happen.

Moving the goalposts. The inability to search for that at the idol vendor right now (regardless of whether it’s your item or not) is a separate issue. if they resolve that and what I’m proposing above, then you’d be able to search for that at the idol vendor and the highlighting I’m describing would show you yours.
