When is your build "finished?"

For those of you who like to min-max, at what point do you consider your character or build “finished?”

  1. When I cant squeeze more dps into build in reasonable period of time  Meaning if I cant push to like min 700cc, I make another char while waiting for buffs to these underperforming for now.
  2. Or if I reach 1000cc, I wont push farther because whats the point? Dont like bossing in LE, so not interested in trying Uby at all.
    My 2 cents :vulcan_salute:

I consider a build finished when I can comfortably run 300 corruption monoliths. It’s extra finished if I can defeat Aberroth.

when I’ve gotten all the gear and the best slams to make the character perform as well as I can.

It’s reasonable to expect 2 or 3 LP items in most slots, with the best slams in those slots for that character. I want him optimized to the point that any further potential upgrades won’t have a significant impact on his performance.

for some reason, I decided the bar is to hit 750 corruption … i’m stuck now at about 650. Still a work in progress.

Getting the best ‘reasonable’ amount of LP for my uniques as well as the best ‘reasonable’ combination of exalted Affixes on them and my baseline items.

Currently I deem that to be 2 LP for boss uniques, 1 LP for uber-rare uniques and 3-4 LP for everything else.

Exalteds I deem ‘finished’ when they’re T7 rare affix + T7 + T6 in CoF, or T7 rare + T6 in MG.

When filmed and uploaded  only offmeta home brew.
For season 2 it is like c500 harbinger killed - OK . Abby killed - good. Uber - don’t care (trying to)
Atm I’m close to 1k for the first time with FG and it’s slow  have to decide what to do

When I bookmark the build planner in my browser.
It’s only slightly better once I roll it up and play it.
I almost always stop after empowered monos.

Depends on the build, not all my builds have the same threshold and its very much a individual journey and experience. I don’t set my goals beforehand.

All of my builds always prioritize theme and archetypes over objective power, so some of them end up a lot weaker than they could be, but yet I still like min-maxing within the restrictions that I set my self.

At the end most buidls will end up in the 300-600c range and defeating Aberroth “savely”.

But towards the end the main decisions for me is: Is there a significant gear upgrade in sight, that I can get in a reasonable timeframe. This reasonable timeframe varies from build to build, depending how strong it is and how much fun I still have playing it. Usually if I have the feeling that I can get this reasonable upgrade within a few ingame hours of active gameplay I continue farming. Once it starts to get to the point where a singular upgrade might take multiple days of playing, is where I stop playing, unless I really really love the build.

I lose interest at 100. Happens every time. Need some kind of paragon-like system maybe?

When I start getting bored of the build, usually in the 70s-80s.

This is kind of where I am too. But Im having a hard time trying to determine where the line is on how far im willing to go for LP items and how much LP. For example, a 3LP item that has a 1/500 drop doesnt sound like too rare. But if the item is a 5% drop rate then that could be more difficult to obtain than a 1/1000 3LP with a 15% drop rate. How does that math work out when factoring in these numbers?

Also, do you try to shoot for sealed affixs on your exalts along with your T7+T6?

Yeah, thats one thing Ive had to conscioulsy be aware of - each build performs differently, so corruption itself cant be a measurement. For example, Ive noticed i can take an ES Void Knight much further in corruption without optimal gear, while my nearly fully optimized Forged Weapons FG build struggles at 700c. Im at the point where I havent found a good gear upgrade for my FG in almost two weeks. So does that mean the build is “done” or does that mean the build needs to be modified to push further corruption? I feel like its not done until i can take the forged weapons theme as far as it can go.

So how do you keep track of all of your builds you’re waiting for buffs for?

I only discern between boss-only items and the others. As long as it can be found normally I simply play on and get it via the imprint mechanic by now. They drop substantially more often then otherwise, reducing the process to get them heavily this way.

No, I completely ignore sealed affixes for that process, they are a nice bonus but so utterly unreliable to create without utterly destroying FP along the way that I simply leave them out entirely for any planning.

Well I am watching Aarons’ Action ARPG shorts of devs streams, so I know what’s next to buff. I prepare build that I know will be buffed next season so I am ready when patch is on-line and than I test how it is working in new environment
Prior to 1.2 I had ready like 3-4 combinations of FG builds to test, from which 2 turns out to be quite nice. For the next season I have prepared like 3 wariants of skelemancer builds to test  Now they are slow AF, but with buffs to minions they should be very nice to play in the future

When I can’t continue with level <71 unique.
(Pushing a build with only good items like red ring is not my path)

Made Subgoals^^
-Reach 100cc
-Reach 300cc, beat Aberroth
-Above 300CC (depends)

When a build is completely built and to remain only to increase its power.
