75 percent in all resistance, corruption 300 and getting hit for 5k plus in damage, A one shot? No room for error at all.
Having maxed resistances is one defensive layer and all they do is reduce any EXTRA damage you would take from that type. Get some other layers in there and that should help your survivability.
Thank you for reply,
Like what? I have 2k ward , 37percent endurance
That will depend a lot on your build. Usually you want to have high health/ward, plus 60% endurance (less important for high ward/low life builds. Those will prefer to have ward retention/regen).
Then you want to have lots of armor (cap is 85%), block (max 100% block chance, cap 75% block reduction), dodge rating/glancing blows (mostly for Rogue), other sources of damage reduction (again, depending on your build and gear), etc.
Also, very important, some source of crit avoid/reduction. You can do this via blind (if you can reliably blind all the time) or via critical avoidance (only really effective at 100%) or preferably critical damage reduction (preferably close to 100% as well).
Lastly, you want some form of sustain. Either hp/ward regen, which can be achieved via stats or via a skill/passive, or leech if you’re a health build.
If varies a little between masteries/builds, but usually you want to stack more than one defensive layer.
You should look into some videos on youtube. I know there are some introductions on how to improve your defence.
As a caster, Lich, I can’t have a lot of Armor or Block, I rely on Res, Ward and HP, which I have as high as I can get
Is game just a 1 shot at higher corruption then? Because obviously my 2k Ward, 37 percent endurance and 1800 health, do me no good
It depends on how much corruption you’re at, really. With infinite scaling, there will always come a point where you’re getting one-shot, even with great defenses. The point is pushing to a point where you can comfortably farm, try to improve your build and then push higher.
It would probably help if you were to post your build here. Use this link, import your build, save and post it here, so people can give you advice on what you can improve.
300 atm
Armor is class agnostic, meaning, you can have Armor even on Lich if you put some affixes into it. So is Block, but reaching 100% Block is way more difficult for classes without any Block passives.
No, at your 300 corruption level, game isn’t a 1 shot.
I’ve seen Liches at 4k HP, so you definitely have room for improvement in that regard.
I thought I was doing good at 31%
Some classes will have a much easier time getting close to the cap than others & there’s diminishing returns.
As Llama said, it depends on your mastery/build. Some will get to cap somewhat easily like Sentinel or Primalist, others will struggle or not even reach it without having to sacrifice too much.
31% is still decent, considering it’s a direct damage reduction that applies even to ward (unlike endurance), but you want as much as you can comfortably add without having to sacrifice other layers.
I disagree after all, that’s what you get by simply having white items and armor blessings. 0 passives, 0 skills, 0 affixes, 0 idols.
Yes, but those armor blessings do carry a lot (especially the % one) and many builds won’t use them, having better options for those blessing slots.
Most people don’t realize that % armor blessing is on average equivalent to one +12 Strength affix. 14 when the blessing is max rolled.
Many builds also won’t use STR as an affix, but many builds will go out of their way to use those %DR chestpieces. Just an observation
So true! I tend to forget about strength as a defensive stat, too. Same for dexterity. I only think about them when it seems to be fitting for the build and/or has synergies with passives. But they are solid stats in their own right and since diminishing returns are a thing and stats roll rather easily, they are worth considering!
