I’ve got a few 100s (one of each Sentinel mastery), and a 90-something of every other class’s mastery. However, I am yet to run into the massive damage on bosses that people on here and in-game are always bragging about.
Everything I’ve played to 100 is a fast map clear, but they all takes awhile on bosses (not the echo bosses, but monolith and dungeon bosses. My fastest is Judgment Aura, but even he’s taking 90 seconds to kill Lagon at 200c.
I constantly see people talking about killing T4 Julra before she ever swaps timelines, but when asked how no one will answer me.
I have a few Alts in the high 90s. Of those the fastest boss killer has been Flame Wraiths and a variant of another not-that-popular build that I am not mentioning here, as it will get nerfed.
Yeah, my favourite build is MA/Shield Throw and the MA variations (Void Cleave / Bleed / Paladin or Forge Guard etc) are definitely boss killers.
Perhaps slightly less OP than they used to be and gearing is a little tedious depending on the variation chosen but for me, they all generally handle any content with relative ease and can appeal to various playstyles too. Hell, even the variations with Smite/Javelin and MA work pretty well.
This is a tricky question because anything we say here might get toned down.
I guess I’ll just say that several of my boss killing builds are minion builds, not for the pure damage they cause (though they do have some of that) but just because you can run around and dodge boss attacks while not missing out too hard on damage.
If you’re having trouble farming bosses, roll Acolyte. Primalist can get there also, but it takes way more items and specific bonuses to get it to work as well lategame.
I was looking at some of the new items though, and Advent of the Erased seem a bit silly. Mainly because of “When you gain Haste or refresh its duration you gain (15 to 35) Ward and your Minions gain Haste and Frenzy for 3 Seconds”
Shield Throw has the Fleet of Foot node that will let you constantly trigger Haste on yourself. Which should keep you up a bit on ward, but also have constant Frenzy on the MA.
Anything that keeps the MA moving like a frantic chicken without a head is good - a slow MA is a useless MA in my opinion
I havent found one of those boots yet - I prefer the crit MA build with the multiplier on Sulorons, but one of the other MA variations could most definitely enjoy the Frenzy Haste combination - at 10% it would probably be up most of the time when clearing… and some lucky WW rolls could make it a damn good item.
I put a crazy amount of hours into my crit shieldthrow/MA paladin, and my MA is too fast. he a lot of the time breaks AI wise because he starts to physics break because he has so much movement speed.
Unless they fixed that, but last time I played that build it was still really annoying to watch him try and go to a target only to skate around them in circles.
So giving him haste seems like it would make it 10x worse.
MA builds dont really clear that fast even with a high speed MA, so id rather take one that can actually be controlled which would require less movement speed.
I play a shieldthrow MA, crit Maw axe / Sulorons / Javelin support but with Forge Guard - by far my most played build by a country mile vs every other class I have tried. I use it for virtually everything except Arena (but thats just cause I hate Arena). The MA for me one shots everything in map clearing with one shield throw ping and only slows down after about 400 corruption and even then its not usually a problem - I dont push beyond about 400c for the other reasons. Bosses are not much of a challenge either usually - sure T4s are tricky and require some concentration but are generally ok. The recent minor adjustments to the MA skill tree did affect him a little (reduced “OPness”) but I hardly notice it.
I agree 100% that the AI is absolutely broken (and I dont think they changed anything in recent patches to fix it - maybe a little less frantic pathing perhaps) but I have taken the opposite route in dealing with it - make the MA so fast that it doesnt matter where he goes because he is so fast he will get to where I need him quickly anyway. For fast map runs (like finding running around finding spires), this is also beneficial because I can scream ahead without waiting for him to catch up cause he will wizz past. I dont think I have ever had a problem tagging him with a shield throw even though he is speed boosted.
I dont “control” my MA with A key very often - in fact barely at all except for certain instances in mechanical boss fights. If I went the Void Cleave route I would most definitely not want a whizzing MA and would understand a slower version played in tight formation, but for the way I play I actually follow him around instead of fighting the bad AI - i.e. if he wants to go left, I go left and tag him.
Seems to work for me most of the time.
ps. This build is absolutely crap for me playing online at 170ms ping though… Offline its smooth as butter. Online with that lag etc, I doubt I would be able of getting beyond default empowered monoliths, let alone T4s.
So, what I’m reading, and correct me if I’m wrong, is that these “one-shot, 4 second kill on T4 bosses” builds are pretty much myths born of hyperbole.
There definitely used to be builds that could do T4 Julra in seconds but all of those are pre-0.9 or were nerfed to oblivion in even earlier patches or used bugs /exploited the Julra mechanic to achieve this.
I havent personally looked for any recent 0.9 builds that can still do this but there is more than likely a fair amount of hyperbole in “one-shot, 4 second kill” without exploiting something.
I do however expec there to be quite a few builds that can handle sub 60s kills.
EDIT:
Here is a youtube clip of someone exploiting a bug to get a fast julra kill in 0.9+
EDIT 2:
And a 45 second thorn totem version (first 45 seconds are julra)
you are literally proving he is right. This video shows some easy 100’s corruption bosses, nothing about one shot Julra.
Too much exageration with some guys, to the point of saying a dozen builds
I have not seen any one shot Julra either, after recent patches, specially the one who fixed Julra gloves.
