What's Multiplicative with other modifiers?

I’m trying to do my own build planner and seeing such skills Multiplicative and with other modifiers?

Hi MartyJoe,

Multiplicative effects are ones that say “More” so if you look at a skill tree, and one of the nodes on the skill tree says “More damage” for example, that’s a multiplicative effect and they’re very strong.

But if you see a skill node that says “Increased damage” instead of “MORE damage” that would be considered additive and less strong than multiplicative.

So the word “more” in LE means multiplicative, and the word “increase” means additive. More is usually better than Increased. Multiplicative is usually better than Additive.

Make sense?

Be careful with that though. More multipliers usually have a lot lower numerical values and if you don’t have decently high %Inc damage yet it could very well be that a %Inc affix or modifier could be more valuable.

So I would phrase it like this:“more multipliers are usually better, because they are rarer and thus harder to come by”
%Inc multipliers are usually very accessible from a lot of different sources, but they run into diminishing return very quickly.

Especially in your early and midgame %Inc multipliers are usually your easiest source of damage. Stacking your main attribute (usually gives 4%inc dmg) and a few affixes and passives gives you a few 100’s % of increased damage already.

But I often see people posting builds that “only” have 200-300% damage plus maybe another100-200 from attributes. So let’s say 500% at that amount even “only” a T5 %inc damage affix (60% Inc dmg) is still a 10% more damage increase, that is more than most %more multipliers give individually.

So even though more multipliers are rare and valuable they always work together with a good amount of %Inc multipliers.
