It looks like they contribute experience to factions. Are there end game monolith things to be aware of?
What is your question exactly?
There are no roadblocks for alts, you can play as many as you want. Faction Reputation/Rank is shared across all characters of the same game mode. But you can also choose a different faction with another character.

I thought I had read something about having to relevel empowered monoliths with alts and people being unhappy about it. I am still on the non-empowered ones with my first character.
Yes there is a lot of debate about how progression and shared progression is handled.
But this is by no capacity a roadblock and rather a very subjective thing that some people care about.
When you level your second character, especially when you use some stashed gear, like Uniques or Legendaries, you are inherently a lot stronger.
And you need to go through Normal Monolith and Empowered Monolith again. Which for some people feels like a punishment, because they already did work for it on another builds.
I don’t agree and think that the journey is just as important as getting to high endgame asap.
But yeah that is subjective.
I think you should simply do it yourself and give feedback about it from yoru perspective without getting influenced by what other people think about it.
