I love playing this game and the progress on the game since launching in early access is amazing to see. I wanted to create a post to ask the community this question. What is one favorite thing about the game that you like?
My favorite part about Last Epoch has to be the skill specialization. I love being able to change certain stats on a skill I use frequently and actually be able to feel a difference in gameplay or visuals. I have a blast making random types of my own builds just for fun.
I’m curious on what others favorite thing is in the game and can’t wait to read through them.
I haven’t finished the main story, but I like that the game is not burdened by complex mechanics. Skill trees are easy to understand, crafting is accessible, idols, gear, damage types, enemies… It feels easy to pick up and play.
My favorite thing by a lot is Volatile Zombie. I love the mayhem of your zombies running at the enemies. I also like that they absolutely annihilate everything, hitting way above what their mana cost should allow. It’s like an ability from an earlier ARPG that makes you feel like you’re getting to hit hard and kick ass in an unconstrained way. It never gets old.
I was starting to not believe in it anymore this playthrough but I got a lot of minion fire damage buffs at some point and it started 1-shotting whole groups of small and medium sized enemies and putting me over the top for clearing certain groups before they could do anything to me or my minions again.
It’s even kind of good storytelling, in a way. Getting to be unfair to downright mean to the monsters has a tinge of latent evil to it; a philosophy of unrestrained warfare, that isn’t a civilized way of being except in the context of defending humanity from an unrelenting threat. It’s fun to play that role and feel that tinge of being an Acolyte, baring your fangs at the enemies of humankind.
That’s what I love about videogames and that’s why I really enjoy playing Volatile Zombie.
How Minions/Companions are treated. I love playing through similar builds that play and gear pretty differently at points and how a Forgesmith plays different from a Necro and a Beastmaster… Sign me up for Falconeer and hopefully Runemaster has minions too!
The accessibility of systems that just suck in other games. PoE Crafting requires a PhD in Quantum Physics, D3 Crafting can be taught to kindergarteners and respec’ing isn’t a freebie like D3 and doesn’t cost your left testicle as in PoE. The game really hits all the sweet spots in my book.
easy line campaign, with weak mobs, you can play without res even after 25-30 lvl, all you need is a bit armour
you dont need to open act guides on second screen to rush them, all you need - run for golden question mark
My favorite thing about Last Epoch is the pace of progression (Passives, Skills, Skill Spec Slots etc.) and the ability to play any build you want right out the gate. No need for playing a different build until you can transition into the build you initially wanted to play.
I really to like to grow into builds and seeing them progress steadily very early on already.
