i left about a week into this game going into open beta. and now that im on a break from poe 2 and d2r i was wondering if anything changed in the trade system in the game, i dont remember exactly what it was but i think it was some weird guild thing and you could only trade for gold? it didnt feel like open trading basically. and now looking to fill some time i was wondering if with 4 seasons of time the devs fixed anything or if its the same as it was in open beta?
The fundamentals are still the same, but they improved many small aspects of it. So the overall way you interact with it is the same, but they put a lot of QoL and progression improvements onto it.
If you are not sure if you want to return or not, maybe wait for the next patch. The next patch is supposed to have major item factions (Both Merchant Guild and Circle of Fortune) improvements.
Besides what Heavy said, I want to point out that LEâs trade will never feel like this. You canât re-sell bought items so youâll never be able to spend the whole season just getting rich by flipping items like you do in other games.
This is by design and will likely never change (unless something drastic happens).
Just like mastery respec then.
That was launch (1.0), not open beta & yes, everyone got to choose between trade & not-trade as a way to get more items. Gold is still the trade currency & that fact is still causing issues. Price checking is still clunky (hopefully that changes next season) & the market has issues due to insufficient people using it. But as DJ said, itâs never going to be unrestricted trade like PoE has, until the devs change their mind on that particular hard line like they have before.
Yes. At this point itâs not unthinkable that they might change their minds about this in the future and make trade unrestricted. Itâs very unlikely at this point, but so were several things, like the aforementioned mastery respec. ![]()
Exactly. Given that theyâve said before that theyâd never do mastery respec & then they did mastery respec, we canât trust them that they wonât change their minds about trade or any of their other âwe will never do thisâ things.
thank you all for such thoughtful and indepth replies, i really appreciate all of them as they all added context to the situation, i guess ill give LE another go after next patch and see maybe i can enjoy it without open trade, maybe im just searching for the wrong thing. like i have poe 2 for open trade i guess, LE can just be in its own category.
