Went from Tank to Stank Sentinel build

Prior to the patch on march 18th this build Forge Guard, Level 94 (LE Beta 0.8.5) - Last Epoch Build Planner
would have little to no problem with any of the content, now i can barely survive 3-5 mobs attacking me, i see nothing in patch notes to indicate such a huge nerf to this character build can i get a Dev/ someone to explain what happened and why my super tank went to super stank?

You havent really provided specifics as to why your build is stank - i.e. what do you notice is
happening - poor dps or poor healing or what specifically?

Looking very quickly at your build and cross referencing:

Fixed a bug where the Wrathful idol prefix (ā€œincreased damage with Vengeance and Smiteā€) applied its benefit twice; for example a ā€œ26% increasedā€ idol was providing 52% increased damage with Vengeance and Smite.

That would account for a potentially large amount of your damage being nerfed - which would then apply to any leech you have too - i.e. you wouldnt heal as much either…

Would have to spend more time looking at the build more closely to find other issues, but things like Critical Strike avoidance not being capped could mean a lot more one-shot type deaths especially in the new Dungeons etc.

Sure that more advanced players and theorycrafters may also see things that have affected your build that I am not aware of…

The amount of healing and life sustaining has dropped dramatically more so then i think the idol would account for, idk hard to explain really, i just know that when i logged out on the 17th i was doing age of winter level 100 and able to pull 30+ mobs and tank them without risk of death and now that number is 10X less meaning i’m getting dunked on by 3-4 mobs, so maybe all my healing sources where nerfed, like i said before the 18th i was nigh invincible, and now more like a wet paper bag.

I have been through the Patch log & your build and I cannot see anything other than the Idols that would have changed significantly…

None of the set items got changed that I can see… Same for the Unique rings… None of the implicits on the items got changed either… None of the skills you are using got changed except for some Text on the RoS skill…

Like your Crit avoidance, your health is probably too low for any significant corruption farming but I really cannot find anything that changed between patches that would explain any significant change in the performance of the build other than the idols - which would account for between 40 and 108% less damage

Assuming no ailments or DoT, does it look like your health is dropping in big single chunks or rapidly going down in a controlled way? i.e. are you being wittled away or one-shot?

@Llama8 / @Heavy - hey there, any ideas what could have made this build bad from the last patch till now? I cannot think of anything other than the Idols, but the OP doesnt think this should make enough of a difference to explain the tank to skank status…

Something that caught my eye on that link is that it shows only 1k life. Is that number correct? It seems a bit low to me when looking at a level 94 character.

i’m being wittled down, not seeing any one-shots, sometimes the wittle is controlled other times rapidly depleting my hp and health pots arn’t enough, going to the lower versions of monoliths and it’s more manageable/ close to what it was pre mar 18th in the level 100 ones so idk maybe that bugged damage from idols was what was keeping me alive but idk

Hi, I checked your build and here are some things I noticed:

  • with 1000 hp, 50% block chance and 50% crit avoidance it seems normal if you die to a strong critical hit, that doesn’t get blocked
  • hp should be around 2k at that point
  • the 10 points in the passive nodes peltast and shield breaker seem like a waste, because you are not using any throwing attack
  • most points in the void tree seem like theyve not been put to a good use, like the two points in future strike
  • make up your mind what you want your main damage to be and then build on that idea. Right now you are using the Ruby set that maximizes around poison also dealt by fire skills, but instead of using fire skills you use void skills

Most of the points in peltast/shield breaker are to unlock the less damage taken from hammer and anvil through they could remove a few points to use elsewhere.
