Wengari Patriarch - will this thing ever get balanced?

Far as I can tell max cold + physical resistance does nothing, it kills you in less than a second with them. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a monster with such absurd damage spike. And fairly common in monoliths AND tougher now with the defense chance.

I don’t know, man, this is definitely not fun.

I’ve been following and playing LE for almost 3 years at this point, and this thing has never at any point not been a dickhead. I think it’s safe to say that at this point they don’t consider it a problem.

Some of the Exiled Mages are doing the same thing now with Frostbite. I was getting nuked from off the screen, regardless of how many potions I was chugging.

For the most part, I’ve liked the balance changes. But these are ridiculous, like what D4 did with their first major patch.

I actually wouldn’t mind it if they weren’t a random mob in echoes and were simply a echo boss instead. So you wouldn’t bump into them randomly all the time.

When a mid-level NPC is harder to kill than the Emperor of Corpses…come on, EHG - this is embarrassing!

Resists here are not like PoE, you will need to add some extra layers of defense if resist capped isnt enough.

Not for this bastard. I can get one-shotted with all of my characters, including an L96 Warlock w/3500 Ward and max Cold/Physical resistances; if not one-shotted, then the DoT is so ridiculous that spamming 6 potions still isn’t enough.

Worst part for me is the range of the AoE. I was just murdered with my super-speedy Rogue from an attack that started on the far side of the screen. After screaming like a toddler, I Shifted as far as I could go - and still had no chance.

I don’t remember this ever happening when I was going through the Wengari camps in Act 8; this seems to be a product of the Monoliths.

Great, I have that to look forward to. I am playing my first ever totem build so thats like 4 layers of defence on its own, it sounds enjoyable ha! Ya, if its the dot is killing you then we are all going to have problems. I just began yesterday and am doing my normal monoliths, I will remember to post back when I hit empowered. And ya, what is the list of mono modifiers you have going assuming you are still facing uber wengari’s? Lets hope it was just an unfortunate combo of mods!

Since you say you’ve been gone for a long time, 1.0 changed the way monolith difficulty works. Now difficulty is primarily a factor of your coruption level and echo mods aren’t really relevant anymore.

Tbh, I never pay much attention to the Echo mods. But this has happened to me multiple times, so I doubt that I’m that unlucky. I think EHG just went a little overboard on some of the corrections they made in order to make things a bit harder. D4 did the exact same thing, although the nerf brush was so wide-sweeping that my L75 character could not beat areas that my L68 character (same one) could handle.

For example, I’m finding that the “of the Ox” modifier is coming up way more for elite monsters, which of course will make fights much longer. More monsters are simply ignoring minions, moving through them like they were ethereal; my poor Warlock is having a really rough time with Arena Echoes as a result.

Thats how it should have been all along, thanks 3 times man! Yea, I got to play with warlock for an hour and that was the last of gaming I got until yesterday.

I didnt really go through the patch notes, but I love the interface changes, especially with blessings. Maybe I shouldnt be offering my sub 1,0 advice until I am up to snuff with all these major mechanical changes, I do apologize for that!

Just another note regarding that, because it’s new to this patch: you can now “respec” your blessings at the end of time. It saves the ones you unlocked globally and offers them to you at their base (empowered) value even if you didn’t unlock empowered monos yet.
And the blessings you do roll on that character get saved with the highest value.

I did find this out on my own believe it or not, that is such a huge QoL for all of us who have been playing a long time.

Are you running high corruption or just gettin thru mono’s? If you are in fact running high corruption, I would side with what DJ said, I did not realize there was a rework of how difficulty scaled end game.

I will def post back later, right now nothing lives for more than a couple seconds with my totems and avalanche so its hard to tell.

I’m running Empowered Monos, low 100’s Corruption. My latest encounter with the Wengari was on 100, which I’ve run many times before. My biggest problem monsters right now are both Cold-based: this Wengari jackass and one of the Exiled Mage renditions (effing Icicle is just as bad, if not worse).

Sounds like EHG gave cold monsters everything they took away from the player this cycle! I think I may have got lucky and lucked upon the braindead easy early game build, I dont think I have seen an Exiled Mage use an icicle attack as of yet. With minimal gearing my avalanche tool tip is 60k at level 63.

Maybe EHG simply left an accidental 0 at the end of some code, seems weird its only cold ability mobs causing you issue.

Hard to say. But in general, I don’t remember ever having any problems with Cold-based attacks pre patch 1.1.

Hmmm - what do you know. Another Cold-based a**hole just one-shotted me with an Avalanche. Getting closer to the Uninstall button by the hour.

It’s not cold monsters, just Avalanche specifically. It’s always been way stronger than it should be when monsters cast it.

Can confirm being offscreened by avalanche, and can confirm it is still makes me mad enough to make me want to put my fist through a brick wall.

Ah that sucks, I rarely have been hit by offscreen mobs. Avalanche hits like a truck, thats a shitty way to go down. Any clue what mob was responsible?
