I wish the different weather effect did more then look nice. Ideally adding a player/mob buff/de-buff.
Examples; snowy weather results in slower movement but increased all cold damage. raining results in extra chance to shock a target heat storm causes constant damage sandstorm would lower accuracy and cause a chance to miss a hit.
Just quick examples and not 100% what i want just wanted to show diff ways it could roll out,
I think that would just lead to either people going in and out of areas until they had the weather they want or (if each echo ālocksā the weather on opening) players leaving because the weather is stopping their progress and forcing them to make a detour to a different echo.
Having very small bonuses that have a low impact is fine. Having random debuffs of any kind just annoys players for no reason.
Thereās a reason why PoE2 players hate the vaal temple maps with the constant damage from the middle and will go out of their way to avoid it.
valid points, that being said if you let ācheeeserāsā limit game design and feature experimentation. The end result (imo) is a meh game experience.
Honestly, most players in this genre arenāt looking for immersion (as can be seen by the fact that most players donāt care about character customization at all), theyāre just looking for a power fantasy or for character progression.
But for those that care about immersion it could be nice to have that option.
Fair points.
I typically try to post whatās not being mentioned/asked (as far as i know about)
As far as Iām concerned thereās already enough people asking for seasonal leaks and (insert generic request for 1,000 time).
And as much as i like positive feedback from people, i welcome negative feedback as at the very least me mentioning something thatās not ātalked aboutā followed by a hundred āhell noā player comments. is a good thing as it makes a point of ref where it shows the idea is a ābad 1ā
In a game where systems are only defendable by saying āItās a PC game those have wierd unrealistic systems!ā having a relaistic weather system would make me laugh. This would be the most stupid thing to correct given all the other stupid things ingame.
Feel free to not like my post and feel free to provide why, but if you do please read what I typed properly. I never said realistic I mentioned Emerson.
Last time I checked in the real world a snow storm didnāt power up my ability to do checks notes my magical spells Iām casting in a game.
If you want to say Iām out of touch with the player base thatās fine, but please refrain from attacks like calling something stupid and have a shred of professionalism please and thanks.
Just a post note another word you could use over Emerson is identity, and last I check things such as character or mastery identity was an important core value of the devās at LE or at least the ones Iāve seen post/talking about game.
You wanted mechanics to it that to some part mirror real word weather. Thatās enough to be strange to to me given we talk about a game that gives a rats behind about that stuff.
So to make one thing clear here⦠this above is my personal oppinion on the matter. With no word I said: āLook at the op what a $§%& §/& and what a §%/§ fitting §/%%&§$ idea he pooped into the internet that §%$ /§$&% of a human beeing.ā I just said Game system only make sense in game and are often complete crap and if they start adding weather with kind of realistic effects it would be the most stupid thing to do⦠besids adding hig see fishing to LE or something like that.
You can like what you like, I never talked AT you I talked about my view and what I think about if something like this would be added. Conclusioin is I would think itās stupid⦠a waste of development time and effort better put somewhere else where it matters.
So no idea why you feel like someone stepped on your toes but Iām sorry you get the impression.
I could say any effort towards MG is āstupidā and āa waste of timeā as I donāt want to play a trading simulator. And the devs should just focus on fixing CoF, but I donāt as I understand the percent of players who think like me is less then 1%. As well as I know other players enjoy the market.
Fair game and I respect your oppinion without making a fuzz.
I hope they will as I told some times as well.
Nah the ammount of SSF players is already higher.
And thatās fair game as well.
Still I could say X is a waste of time if I feel that way in public discussion board. Iām completely okay with people having different oppinions. Go back in time in the Forum and look how much heat I got from the defenders of last Epoch when I said LE isnāt release ready and in a shitty state and look where we are today. Back then it was okay they defended the game because they felt like it and even today I would listen to their point of view and try to understand it.
Other then this I look at such feedback in the best possible way like someone wrote it with good intend and try not to act like someone is pissing in my soup.
Was actually just thinking about this the other day.
Way back when Wolcen (aka Umbra) was first announced one of the things they touted was weather and the environment affecting the world.
Since it looks like we might be getting something akin to positive/negative affixes on corrupt gear you could do a similar theme by adding a mechanic that lets you pay gold (or something else) for additional mono modifiers like:
Thunderstorm: Lightning spells have 5% increased damage but you are shocked every three seconds - increased xp by 5%, or something like that.
This way it wouldnāt be completely random and you donāt have to do it if you donāt want to.
Just a spitball.
DISCLAIMER: the numbers I threw up were not even remotely thought through but just a quick example to illustrate the concept. Balance and power creep would have to be considered before picking what would work.
Maybe it could add packs of lightning monsters throughout the echo too. These packs could have a higher chance to drop lighnting themed items and uniques.
Itās an interesting idea, though Iām not sure how it could be implemented. My primary concern with it would be resulting in fishing for maps. If certain effects were more or less desirable, even for something like a few extra FPS, it can easily result in constantly diving in and out of echoes to find ones with the right weather. If it was set up as āoptionalā, if there was any benefit to it, players would feel forced into it through burden of optimal play.
I could certainly see this as being something like an interactive dungeon mechanic thoughā¦
