Warpath Mana Generation Frequency

Hi, I am currently playing a build that uses warpath as utility and for mana generation. However, the mana only gets generated after 3 seconds have passed. Additionally, the timer gets reset whenever you interrupt the channeling.

For me this feels incredibly clunky and bad to play with, but I think that the amount of mana you would gain per second is fine as is.

Therefore, my suggestion is to increase the frequency at which warpath generates mana, but not increase or even decrease the amount of mana you get per tick.

I do not want warpath to be the best way to generate mana, since it brings the qol of letting you move freely and at the same time spreading potential debuffs on the enemies.

But at the same time, increasing the frequency at which warpath generates mana without touching its mana per second, would enable it to feel much better overall while not buffing permanent warpath playstyles.

I hope I didn´t miss any aspect that would make this change that I am proposing into a massive buff, and I´d be glad to get some feedback.

Have a nice day!

Yup, I made that comment to the devs. IMO, I’d rather 1/3 the mana generated every second rather than every 3.

If you increase the tick rate without decreasing the amount per tick that’d be a significant buff…

I just wanted to sum up my suggestion and be as clear as possible about it, but I guess I was a bit overambitious ^^

With 1 point in Dark Nexus, you get 7 mana every 3s, or 2.33 mana/sec. If you changed the tick rate (& therefore the initial delay) to 1s then without changing the amount of mana you got, you’d end up with 7 mana/sec, or 21 in the original timeframe of 3s. I don’t think you’re arguing that the amount of mana you get is underpowered, just that the requirement to wait for 3s each & every time you start channelling is really annoying & janky (which it absolutely is).

Exactly, I just phrased it poorly.

I think it’s balanced appropriately. The node isn’t meant to turn warpath into a mana generator but rather to reward you for sustaining the channel. Since you don’t regen mana while channelling, this passive helps if you are doing spell casting while channelling. And in my experience I never run out of mana with this node fully specced.

IMHO, Dark Nexus should read as follows:

  • You regain 10% of your normal mana regeneration per point

This makes it interesting as you can then build Mana Regen into your build to facilitate other skills which cost mana.

I do however manage to run out of mana, even with 5 points in Dark Nexus. This is due to the fact, that I do not always use warpath for 3 seconds. I would not run out of mana if I used warpath as a main damage ability, but in my opinion, if you want to use warpath as a mean to buff other abilities like void cleave (Momentum grants Void Cleave a lot of damage after channeling warpath for at least 2 seconds) then the mana node does just not always work. It is desynced with a synergistic passive. And that just feels extremely awkward to play with.

That would be a way to make sure that the warpath regen would feel much less clunky. If I didn´t miss anything that would be 4 mana regen at base values with 5 points in the passive while right now, you get 7 mana per second on average with 5 points in Dark Nexus.

I like this Idea, however you´d have to test whether the numbers are ok.
