For me female model is a big reason to play. I like Sentinel class, but it male. Rogue have not that gameplay that I want. I don’t like rogue abilities and subclasses.
Make more variability, please.
EHG is very open to this, but it causes a lot of extra work.
Animations + Rigging are probably the two biggest ones, since all gear (including MTX) needs to be readjusted
Voice acting
There is a humongous thread about this topic (I think this is the largest thread on the forum that is not a dev post/blog)
It has some insights form the devs themselves as well. It is very old at this point but everything still applies. (One thing that actually disappeared from the amount of work that needs to be doen is the character introduction. All classes had a short motion comic clip at the start. This is no longer there and hence doesn’t need a rework).
I think once 1.2 is released and depending on how the feedback on endgame will be this is one of the topics that might get worked on. At this point EHG is a much bigger studio than it was back then. So whiel its still a lot of work it might be more realistic now.
To expand on what Heavy said:
Basically this is something EHG already said they want to do in the future. However, as Mike himself said on stream several times, it takes a lot less time to create a unique than to create the unique’s model.
And having gender choice for classes will basically double all models/animations.
There are still currently several items that don’t have their respective models/animations. Once they finish those, they might start working on gender choices. It’s one of those things where no one disagrees that it’s a good thing, people just disagree on the priority it should have. And currently, there are other things with higher priority in EHG’s list.
So it’s not really a matter of “if” but a matter of “when”, I believe.
Like, the vast majority of the unique body armours, if not all of them.
The rigging should be the same- I use a bit off blender. Most humanoid models have plugins that auto do it for you.
As for a new model. I shown before tools like meshy. They can make models very easily. Most humanoids have the same animations anyway.
There is no real reason that they could not do it in a day. Most of that one day would be on waiting for the models to be made.
I mean, other than wanting to make a good job rather than a batch job. And wanting to do a unique job rather than a template job.
Some people have pride in their work and won’t just do copy/paste stuff to fool their customers. I know you don’t have any respect for other people, but some people do.
When your playing an arpg your camera is zoomed out far to the point you don’t see much of characters face or their animations.
A characters gender is not something one even sees once a helmet is equipped. The idea of spending a lot of money on this makes no sense. It’s something that does not matter post the first 20 min of the game
And yet, again, some people have pride in their work and don’t want to just something to fool the client.
And as we can see by the reaction on the thread Heavy linked, many people care about this a lot more than “the first 20 min of the game”, otherwise you wouldn’t even have people asking for it.
I am not saying it ain’t important. Players that refund the game because they don’t have a gender they like is a thing. I even heard it on various YT comments on 1.0.
However, there is a point of diminishing returns. Just having a gender option for each hero is generally enough. That or better yet give them a character customizer like dark souls did. You see it, it checks their mental box. Player forgets about it after 5s.
Dark souls has animations for all different body types, etc. But I won’t keep arguing this with you. As I said before, if things are so easy, just go do your own game. Animations are always what take the longest in any game, but since you can do it in a day with blender, I expect that won’t be a problem and you’ll have it out really soon.
