Explainer

Bone Curse is a great skill, but manual casting it is sometimes painful, especially when enemies are moving fast.

The global idea is to allow every Wandering Spirit to cast Bone Curse on hit (after they hit) so they curse nearly everything on screen.

Wandering Spirits become a vector of diffusion for Bone Curse.

In addition, Bone Curse is applied on your behalf, which means it deals the triple damage.

For balance:

  • The mana cost is doubled.
  • Cursed enemies are not cursed again (it would cost too much mana).
  • Only uncursed enemies are affected

Since this is becoming a very strong and very obvious theme with the items you’re suggesting:

I sincerely hope that EHG not only never supports the “Walking Simulator” builds that have been popularized by POE, but actively works to make them non-viable if they crop up. Slapping on some items and then running around having zero engagement with anything on the screen is novel and goofy, but nonetheless a playstyle that, IMO, should be relegated to mobile gacha games. I like it about LE that it wants me to actually play the game with more than a single button.

Don’t you like to walk, in forest, in moutain, …etc ? :evergreen_tree: :mountain:

This is very relaxing on evenings and week ends.

Fear the Walking Dead (Necromancer). :bone:

On the contrary, it increases the player’s engagement towards the game’s environment, as these kind of contemplative builds (game as a movie, no brainer) can be played during 10 hours without much physical strain (carpal tunnel syndrome).

Think it as a Youtube inside the game. :clapper:
Would you say that Youtube doesn’t engage users ?

It is called “passive”.
And this gameplay has its own public.
Maybe not you, but one cannot impose its views on the others.
It takes all kinds to make a world.

If you use transplant, there are 2 buttons.

Joke aside, I personally prefer to emphasize the combination (the build) rater than action (destroying the mouse and keyboard).

Maybe because I like being the strategic type, composing a deck of features, then watch the result on screen.

Like a Machine Learning Engineer or a Quality Assurance Tester.
In the industry, they do all automatize their tests, by the way.

The older you get, the more you save energy. :zap:

EHG removed passive skills from the skill pool because they want active and engaging builds. They somehow made some procc uniques in the past but I hope we’ll never see “use skill X proxx skill Z” type of uniques because if they bring these ingame they can go and revert all the changes back to automation mode from back in the days.

20 years ago it would have been the right stance.

But we currently live in a world dominated by bots, where players cannot compete by simply relying on their fingers.

The best move is to accept the reality and provide in-game alternatives.

So you just want the game to play itself? Plenty of people don’t want that.

Sure. And when I want that, I go to a forest or a mountain. I do not try to get it from a game in which the focus is fighting and killing monsters and getting loot.

Sight-seeing an environment you will see thousands of times while ignoring every enemy on screen is not engagement.

That exists already, and it’s called Twitch.

There is no engagement in sitting and watching a video. You are not engaging with the content, you are simply consuming it. You may react to it, but that is not engaging with it. No interaction is involved on your part.

The “A” in “ARPG” stands for “Action”, as in the word “active” - the opposite of “passive”.

I disagree. The correct move is for some players to start recognizing that in almost every game, any “competition” is both manufactured and meaningless, so they can just play and enjoy the game without worrying constantly about where they land on an imaginary leaderboard that means nothing.

They also make it easier for botting to occur.

Disrespectful for the Art team that designed the environments :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

You focus on monsters, I focus on the environment.

Well, the beauty is everywhere.

20 years ago, yes. :older_man:

In a near future it will stand for Automatized. :robot:
That’s the progress in imperial march.

As an old player, I do agree.
I don’t care about competition.

My point was, rather than being controlled by the machines, outside the game, then take control of the machines, inside the game.

My initial goal was simply to propose a passive build, so it can meet its public.

But if we push the concept further, then yes, a bot league would be awesome.

A great example is the game Nimbatus.

–

You can play manually through various classes (Engineer, etc).

But the ultimate difficulty mode is to create a build that is 100% automatized.

And trust me, it is hard, as you need to face every situation.

Example of a simple a bot I built, to illustrate the concept (Gameplay at 1"17) :

It is a factory that creates multiple miner seekers.

A faster version (5 VTOL engines) can be found here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFS7xo11gHg

Basically, you plan and build your bot with the knowledge acquired in manual leagues, then you launch the bot and supervize the result.

If the bot fails, you go back to the garage and alter the bot.

You loop until it succeeds.

Just like if you were programming.

Proposing to players a bot league was a very creative and smart move from the Nimbatus’ dev team to fight against bots.

Players want to cheat ? Then deliver it as a feature.

There is no need to cheat, if you can bot inside the game !

From what I know, currently there is no ARPG proposing such a bot league.

Yeah because we’re playing a game about killing monsters, not a game about exploring environments.

I want you to know that I don’t believe for a moment that what you want out of fully automated gameplay is the simple, innocuous joy of being able to enjoy the beauty of the environment the 10th, 100th, 100th time you’ve seen it.

I think you might’ve watched The Matrix a bit too much, friend.

I recenter the topic:

Cursing Spirit

Unique Belt
Wandering Spirits applies your equipped Bone Curse on your behalf to uncursed enemies, for the double Mana cost.

The idea behind applying Bone Curse automatically is to benefit from, inside the Wandering Spirits skill tree, the node Reap the Damned (2 effects).

Equipping this belt, the first effect is automatically triggered (Damage To Cursed Enemies: +12% per point).

It incentives the players to unlock the node Sins of the Forgotten (Damned Chance per Second: +30% per point, 3 points) in order to benefit from the second effect (Damage To Damned Enemies: +12% per point) of the node Reap the Damned.

The idea is to create a Wandering Spirits build that, by buffing the damage of Wandering Spirits through curse and damned, also deals damage through damned stacks.

Chronicles of the Damned

In addition, Chronicle of the Damned is an Off-Hand Catalyst currently based on Hungering Souls.

But the new top item for Hungering Souls is Curse of Perseverance, a Two-Handed Staff.

You can’t equip both a Two-Handed Staff and a Catalyst.

Therefore, Chronicle of the Damned should not reference Hungering Souls.

On the contrary, Chronicle of the Damned should emphasize Wandering Spirits.

+1 to Level of Wandering Spirits
+1 to Level of Hungering Souls
(11% to 16%) Chance to inflict Damned on Hit with Hungering Souls per Active Wandering Spirit

+2 to Level of Wandering Spirits
Sins of the Forgotten now applies 1 of stack of Damned per Active Wandering Spirit

Plenty of people as well DO want that. Occasionally I want to play a build where I dont do hardly anything. Infact I respec’d even in LE at 95 on the new launch from solo Bone Golem to solo Skeleton Archmage as I was sick of spamming Rip Blood and it missing etc, now the Skeleton just mows down mobs from range while I autocast Dreadshade, occasionaly cast Infernal. I hit 98 last night, will cruise to 100 and reroll something else without a minion
