Volcanic Orb Confusion

Tooltip for Volcanic Orb says it’s COLD, but the description is “fiery orb and burning shrapnel”. The animation is white and cold, not red and hot. (And I’ve seen YTs where it clearly is a fiery orb with burning shrapnel.)

And, no, do not even suggest that I’m skilled into the cold conversion node on the skill tree. I’m not.

So, is it a Cold spell as it says; or does it do Fire damage as it implies it does?

Or is my animation bugged and it really is doing fire not cold damage? And why, if it’s a fire skill, does the Tooltip say COLD.

Totally confused about this skill. Thanks for any insights you may have.

Rune of Winter in the Mage tree converts it if you have that.

As mentioned, you’ve likely taken the Rune of Winter passive in the Mage tree. It converts both Lightning Blast and Volcanic Orb into cold spells.
