Void Shade of Rahyeh Feedback

I fought Shade of Rahyeh for the first time yesterday and it was by far the most enjoyable boss fight out of the ones I have fought thus far.

I didn’t really consider the boss fight too hard because the mechanics were pretty simple other than the wing flap which was slightly confusing to figure how what the ground shading meant. After doing it 3 times I finally understood, the one shaded area is where he flaps and the other is where he is going to flap (please correct me if i’m wrong). Both are highlighted so you know the direction where he will turn. I found this mechanic slightly confusing and I felt like there would be an easier way to illustrate it for new players. Maybe have the section where he is flapping to be darker than the next section where he will flap. That was the only part of the phase that got me because I didn’t understand what was going on.

The boss fight for me personally was enjoyable because you had to be on your toes and quick to react to mechanic after mechanic. I found this fun and engaging but for new players this might be too much all at once because of how quick you are forced to switch to one mechanic to the next. I would suggest having 3 seconds maybe breathing room between the first couple mechanics to have a player understand than have the boss in “phase two” do them non-stop. I feel like going into this boss on a hardcore character would be extremely stressful (if you didn’t brief yourself on mechanics earlier) because you get little to no time to register what is going on. With how hard the boss hits, you need to help players learn what to do before spamming repeat on the mechanics. I would also like if there was a phase two to have the boss switch up what he will do next instead of it being in a cycle. Maybe have him sweep in a line more than once in a row. This would make the boss fight really interesting.

Overall great boss fight. Fun, rewarding. I also felt the potions granted were perfectly timed and were enough to sustain if you made some mistakes. Well done.

PS - The boss fight is a joke with Orian’s Eye. Hope that unique gets nerfed in the future.

Yes, I found it one of the more interesting boss fights, along with Argentius.

a) It’s an incredibly rare drop, b) if your fire protection isn’t higher than your void protection, that line isn’t particularly useful, though the 100% increased fire protection line does make that somewhat less likely (you’d have to have your protections very skewed for it to not be useful).

I find an item that can full convert damage to another type extremely powerful. On top of that, it also adds 100% fire resist and an extremely high amount of mana (the high end is triple the amount you get can on a piece of gear). The “downside” to the necklace is a joke for how much defensively it adds. Anyone who is serious about this game already has good health pool and 1k~ resists and switching in and out this necklace for a boss you go from almost getting 1 shot to damage being completely a joke. I know it’s all relative but still, lower the conversion to 50% and it will still be great.

Never had one drop for me but gambled like 5 times to get one. lol

Yeah, I think lowering the conversion would be a good idea.

IDK about you.

For me, it took about 5mins of refreshing and gambling to get that amulet. Drop rate may be low, but gambling rate is “high”. At least I had gamble 2 of them in the last week.

Yeah, the only way to actually get one is by just gambling for it, everyone I know that has one or more did it that way. I don’t know anyone which actually had one drop. One of the reasons I hate gambler…

Regardless though, the necklace is way too good, it should be balanced.
