Ok so i’m using a erasing strike build with maximum area effect for clearing. I’m currently running with Shattered Continuity which removes the cooldown which is great!
HOWEVER, The prerequisite talent required: Time Loop: Erasing strike now Guarantees a echo when used, and the echo costs TWICE the mana of the ability and does less aoe. even with a lot of idols to increase the damage of the echo it is just barely keeping up with the regular strike aswell.
Suggestion:
For those of us that want to make a sort of slam dunk kind of build the no cooldown talent is great. However the Time loop talent either needs to be reworked, reduced in mana cost for echos or just moved to not be a prerequisite to get the No cooldown talent.
at lvl 50 current with as many points into mana and mana gear as i can muster I can only do 2 Strikes in a row before the echo completely eats my mana and im forced to just run around and wait for mana for a while. The void knight does not get enough mana to justify this talent.
Please fix this in the near future as im really enjoying this build but this mana issue from this 1 talent is absolutely destroying what otherwise could be a great build…
There is a build up skill for erasing strike where you use Multistrike - Void Cleave - Erasing Strike with the skilled combo up nodes and everything aligns smoothly. I don’t think the skill for the guaanteed echo should be cheaper because iirc this node leads to a hit and 2 echos. Erasing Strike hitting 3 times for 3x the costs seems fair… hell even for a double strike ^^.
Then again I play Erasing strike as a nuke skill and not as an anytimer and i think the huge cost is there to avoid people using it as an anytimer .
Then again i understand where you come from and why you want to change stuff but I just don’t think this will happen because at least on paper it sounds broken. Non the less welcome to the board keep it coming maybe VK players who have several hundrets of hours more playtime then I do have a complete different oppinion and I’m wrong ^^.
Erasing Strike’s power is balanced around having a cooldown. Taking away the cooldown completely requires that something else be given up to maintain some semblance of balance, especially when you’re also getting a guaranteed double/triple/quadruple cast of it. Even if they totally removed Time Loop as a prereq for Shattered Continuity, they would just tack some other new cost onto it instead.
You need to take advantage of one of the methods VKs have of recovering mana actively.
While I understand where you are coming from, the way you use Time Loop is probably not the intended way.
And the whole “mana issue” is the hurdle you need to work out in your build.
If you wanna play very low cooldown just play with CDR on gear + Merciful + as many points of hastened Cataclysm as you can (or use a 2H Sword with Implements of destruction).
Timeloop in conjunction with Shattered Continuity is meant as a big burst spender combo.
You can play as a 500 Mana Void Knight spamming multiple ES’s with multiple echoes each.
While these echoes happening you can refill your mana as it drains with some filler and use Volatile Revwersal right before you run out of mana for absolultey gigantic amounts of burst.
Unfortunately this build is kinda useless against bosses atm, because of the adaptive damage reduction.
That’s why im saying to move the talent. just removing the cooldown isn’t really breaking the game as it can be achieved elsewhere in the tree but for abit more investment of points.
This is incorrect. You can reduce the cooldown in other parts of the tree, but nothing else removes it.
Hastened Cataclysm comes with the drawback of increased mana cost. Implements of Destruction comes with the drawback of locking you in to a single weapon type - 2h Swords - that has less damage per hit because it attacks faster than 2h Axes and 2h Maces. Only Merciful has no explicitly built in drawback, because its CDR is low by comparison to the others.
I dont know why everyone thinks if they lowered the mana cost this would be broken when Rive literally dumpsters ES damage at all levels while having anvil stance.
ES needs buffs not people out here saying “nah ES needs to stay shit” ES already has a fairly decent mana cost and would require a builder spender playstyle either way, I can totally see ES echos perhaps costing 30, thats what an ES costs by default. Costing double the cost of an ES? Dead in the water.
You can move the node else where, and still have a cost associated with alternatively as well, like +10 mana cost like forge strike.
I don’t like the word useless in this kind of context.
Just because something isn’t the meta, it is not useless.
Yes it is a niche build, but its A LOT of fun, if you like stuff that is a bit less ordinary then your straight forward rive build, which I personally find very boring.
I am certainly not everyone and I think the general consensus of the overall community is, that cooldown skills are rather medicore and not very popular overall.
In the context of ES vs. Rive the build I described earlier with the Time Loop and Shattered Continuity definitely cannot hold up agaisnt a Rive build.
But ifyou build a more sustaiend dps focused build ES certainly can hold its ground.
The problem is that ES still overall is not meta, especially for Arena (which is the only measurement we can do right now)
Nobody said “ES needs to stay shit”, I just really dislike nodes that entirely remove one aspect of a skill without having some opportunity cost (more than just skill spec points).
I really prefered flavoured skill trees where different branches give different flavours.
Skill X has 5 secodns cooldown.
Skill spec tree node Y: Remove cooldown of Skill X. That is just plain boring. if there is no catch to it (like time loop).
I would agree that Time Loop is not properly balanced, but the theme is great.
Nuke skills are mostly useless because the enemies you want to nuke the most, aka bosses, are not nukeable. For trash it’s rather useless if I twohit them with one build if I twohit them with another build. The balancing of LE just floats like a lead duck that’s all.
