Visual/Impact from Character Builds

I tried POE in the current league and thought I’d share my modest suggestion for improving the impact and visuals of LE builds. The thing is, compared to POE, LE builds are visually terrible. When I thought about it, I initially thought it was just that I hadn’t built beautiful builds in LE, so I watched a lot of YouTube builds and found nothing to prove me wrong. It’s also possible that LE builds are simply too few in general. For example, in POE you can build 10 archers, and everything will look different, whereas in LE there’s only one archer, and the only way he might look different is with MTX. Most importantly, LE doesn’t have builds that splash your monitor with projectiles and magic. There aren’t the same juicy explosions of mob packs.

I would really like to be able to get from Last Epoch what I described above, taking into account the developers’ reports that work on visuals and impact is underway.

I’ve been playing PoE2 lately and yes, that game looks amazing, on par or even better at times than Diablo IV. Last Epoch could use more love in the graphics department, but I honestly prefer LE’s art style to Diablo IV and PoE2. I’m sure EHG is working hard on the entire game, graphics upgrades, polish and most importantly, new content.

I’m always excited to see what new LE seasons bring in visual upgrades, etc. and hopefully they can put more love into their character details and MTX’s in general. I will gladly spend more money on MTX’s from Last Epoch if I really like them. Personally, I would like to see “Finisher” MTX’s for elite’s and Rares, like PoE2 is doing, but I am thankful for any upgrades in general.

One thing I love that Last Epoch has that the others don’t, is “UI Customization”. I can make the menu’s smaller so the game feels more immersive which is something Diablo IV and POE2 could really use. Diablo IV is particularly bad here, like “Post-IT” notes exploded on the screen (just makes it feel cheap).

Fingers crossed for Season 4 and beyond!

In LE each class has a theme and is very specific. In Path of Exile there is nothing specific they can all do whatever they want and just start at a different point in the tree. They’re quite different games so yeah, you won’t see a Void Knight running around using a bow but that’s just how it is. I asked a while ago could they add cold/poison stuff to sentinel trees but was tod it’s not on theme for them so I dont think what you’re wanting will happen anytime soon although I am definitely for it, it would take a tonnnnn of work because then you’d need all the bow nodes/skills that they might be able to use added to their trees since you wouldn’t have a sentinel using rogue trees.

I do think there is more chance down the road of them adding more skill trees to each class as time goes on which could cover random things like bow use or my desperate cry for cold/poison which I do think that every class should have all the resistance abilities - cold, fire, poison, void etc because but yeah anywaysssssss…

+1 for expansion similar to what you’re asking but yeah doubt it’ll happen

As for mob density it’s pretty chunky at higher corruption least, seems to be. Hopefully the idea someone else brought up about juicing the echos (same as poe) will be an idea in the near future which would include monster density, hardness, loot, exp etc etc

It’s not that important to me that I can’t use a bow as a knight. I want the entire screen to be covered in projectiles/exploded by my button presses, so that mobs explode in a swarm when I hit them hard. It’s not that the game requires 100 different archer builds or 100 different knight builds to achieve this; it’s that ability effects need to be expressive and the impact of attacks and mob kills needs to be felt strongly.
I believe this is all 100% implemented in PoE; almost any build there has impact on mobs, and overall, it looks beautiful. Of course, it’s possible that my understanding of beauty is that a high-end build should have the entire screen covered in effects/projectiles; I can’t really imagine how an ARPG should be any different.

You can have visually heavy builds in LE builds right now but they aren’t the best. Mage and Druid specifically. Heck, you can have visually impairing effects in LE but its just endgame viable.

You have to be more specific on this too, cause the game also isn’t good on proccing effects per millisecond.

Okay now I’m getting where you stand but would like to disagree on some level. Explode in some capacity yes. Entire screen with projectiles, not really for me.

If it’s simpler and I’ll give examples, then here it is:

The first videos I saw perfectly describe what I think LE should have. A significant number of on-screen effects, especially where appropriate, like flicker, and incredible speed.
Compared to what’s in the videos, the LE builds look objectively boring.

Although, I don’t know, the developers are probably already tired of being constantly compared, like, “Look at PoE, why don’t you have that?” Perhaps they’re preparing something for us that should look exactly like it should for Last Epoch, because it’s at least possible they can’t create similar effects due to the engine. In PoE, because of these effects and the number of mobs, people use third-party programs that make the graphics blurrier so the game runs at higher frame rates.

I’d be okay with the second video be implemented to many skills. Not a fan of the others.

It’s a matter of taste) But I think that money is invested in games so that as many people as possible can play them and so that they like what is happening on the monitor screen and so that they feel fun. So I think it should be possible to make serious builds with a lot of effects, as well as serious builds that don’t have much effects. As another option, in the game Soulstone you can make the effects of abilities very transparent or turn them off by setting the transparency to 100%.

Just because you like something doesn’t mean the rest of the game population does. If you like the poe stuff so much I find it confusing that you’re not playing it?

It’s just weird you haven’t mentioned a single thing you like about LE that POE doesn’t have but you’ve mentioned multiple things about LE that make it suck in comparison for you. Again I’ll say I am confused why you aren’t just playing POE.

PS I played POE since early beta back in the days. I know what you’re talking about you don’t have to share videos.

So thx EHG. I hate this kind of poe/poe2 crappy eye-melting screenwide nonsense
