All I’m interested in at this point are tier 5 items, and rare affixes.
Just wondering if it would be difficult to work some of that coding magic and make any item that has a tier 5 affix drop w/ color other than blue or yellow? Same could be done w/ the rare affixes we are all looking for.
Something like this could be a permanent fixture or perhaps just a stop gap measure to save us our sanity (and eyesight) until that much awaited loot filter arrives?
If you think a couple algorithims to change the color of an item w/ a tier 5 affix is making a loot filter than yes. But the suggestion was to the developers not you.
So, I guess by your logic we already have a loot filter. White, Blue, Yellow and of course Uniques (we’ll call them “brownish/orange”?) all colors representing certain quality of items. Is that your loot filter? My suggestion is simply to change color of items that drop with 1 tier 5 (or more) on them. It would be one more color. I’m pretty confident that would not be a “significant %” of the work necessary for a loot filter as you suggest.
A loot filter will actually filter OUT things you don’t want. That is not happening currently nor is it part of my suggestion.
We are currently in stage 2, the loot filter won’t arrive till stage 4.
loot filter or color filter issue aside, this isn’t necessarily true. They’ve already put something from stage 3 in the current END of stage 2. And they’ve also said, we’d actually be getting our first thing from stage 4 soon. They also have given us a good preview of the loot filter. So there is a possibility that loot filter might be sooner than you think.
It certainly is a hot topic in game, and one of the few complaints. Having to stop and ctrl alt scan every item is like pulling a wet mattress behind you.
I guess I’m getting a little desperate as my desire to play is strong until the moment I see the first loot explosion, then the “anti-fun” begins.
I think those are great ideas. Generally, any stop gap measure which would help draw attention to rare affixes would be a great way to make the wait of a proper loot much easier. I assume the loot filter will be up to modern standards, which justify the wait. But still, a little touch-up in the meantime would go a long way.
