I’m playing a judgement + smite paladin right now and I’m lvl 62. I got couples of unique orange and green items but none of them helps my builds, so i’m wondering is that the gears are poorly distributed or is it just me of bad luck? Or am i only supposed to play a hammerdin or i will get punished for not doing so? Or is it that the game lack of afflix for more pal build beside shield/hammer?
I’m expecting some unique weapons that + fire spell damage, and more generic unique items that can be used by all classes but i checked db but get disappointed. Most interesting sentinel gears are seems to be for VK.
Also the smite can turn to lightning damage but there’s no gear or passive that can support the possibilities. Hope we can see more diversity of gears for all classes instead for certain ones.
I agree with you. Many Uniques are very specific which make these uniques useless unless you have a specific build that line up with the uniques. One thing the dev can do is add leveling uniques that help especially your 2nd/3rd etc characters when leveling in a new ladder season/league that many arpg like PoE , diablo have.
Like powerful early game uniques that help the leveling process, speed boots that help you move faster. Mana rings that help you with resource management until you buff up your resource management later,
There are quite a few discussions on the Forum about uniques (give it a search to see how many) … Most of your points have been echoed by others (myself included)… There are even threads where people have tried to make builds specifically around Uniques - especially the obscure ones - but barring a few items like Eye of Reen/ Exsanguinous/ Woven Flesh and some others, the general concensus is that Uniques are ok when leveling but lose out to well crafted T15+ items end game… Set items are also pretty much useless end game…
We can only see what the devs come up with over time… I am hoping for lots more variety and depth of uniques… .
Yeah I’ve found that if you want to use uniques you’re better off centering the build around those items rather than the skills you might want to use. Sometimes they synergize well and other times you’ll end up with a garbage build…
Unfortunately this is currently the more often realisation…
You can make them work after a fashion, but once you swap out a crafted rare with ideal stats that match a skill/build, the unique is usually no longer worth it…
Anyway… its still early for Uniques and they promised Legendaries too so lets see what comes…
Agreed. There are also some uniques that are actually pretty build defining, like the Legacy of the Quiet Forest belt for infinite spriggan form. Like you said we have legendaries coming down the pipe so it’ll be interesting where they fit in the design space.
With the newly added Rogue uniques, it seems they’re adding in more “unique” affixes onto uniques, so hopefully they go back and make adjustments to older ones to make them more compelling or just add in more to dilute the pool for more item chase.
