As a mage, if you have a regular chest armor (mods or not), and have an equipped chest armor that grants a charge to Flame Ward, equipping either one while Flame Ward is on cooldown resets the cooldown.
You can actually use Flame Ward, swap equip armors, use Flame Ward again, swap again, etc and stack a very large amount of ward this way.
