Undo the 1.0 nerf to Thorn Totem Titan’s Bane Node

I have played Thorn Totem in 1.0
I have played a ballista falconer in 1.0 (the shooting version, not the exploding version)

The Falconer Ballistas do SO SO SO much more damage than the thorn totems its silly.
Why were thorn totems nerfed in this way, to make them distant second to ballista falconer.
Wanting to do a pure totem playstyle, and Falconer is VASTLY and overwhelmingly superior than Shaman, the supposed totem mastery. Why?
