The classes in LE feel really good for the most part, with one part I think that’s missing: long CD abilities. To my knowledge, there’s not a skill in the game that takes longer than 45 seconds to recharge. But these types of huge, “ultimate,” nuking abilities are really fun in a game like this.
I think if every class had just one ultimate ability to use, it would make the classes basically perfect. This would be on top of the 5 skills you already get, perhaps even independent from a skill tree. They could be at the very end of the passive tree, for example, giving you access to a powerful, long CD ability that you reserve for bosses and/or tight situations.
Maybe this is a tall order right now, and even 1.0 could be too early for it, but I hope it’s on the dev’s radar. 5 skills feels ever so slightly limited, but an ultimate for every class to cap it off would be awesome in my opinion.
I dont think it would work, it would homogenize the builds imo. and create this weird situation where every single paladin enters boss fight and hits the same button. Thats weird and flys against diversity.
The wonderful part about this genre is 5 different paladins all walk up to a boss and do a different rotation, sure they have some overlap, and many might even be similar. But its also slightly different.
Having a mega nuke with no skill tree that is so good its a must take and use seems… lame.
I also think skills which have longer then even 20 second cooldowns just dont fit into the space well at all.
While I don’t think it’s a homogenization coffin nail, I don’t think they’d really fit. Plus, I’m not sure how they’d work. Just having a big nuke, in a 45 second cooldown would be lackluster. And if it were more synergetic with skills/spells, then it’d best to be baked into the skill trees, as a reward for spending… lets say… 15+ points in a certain “theme” of the skill. But there’s already issues with skill nodes, build diversity and the limited number of points available, without introducing this kind of pigeon-hole.
