Two questions about future

Hey guys, I have 2 questions on my thoughts:

  1. We will be have Cycle system, so leaderboards still will be on Legacy Cycle but with no reset there yea?
  2. Are our stashes bought for gold will be jump to new Cycles (stashes for whole account) or get reset and we will buy on every single Cycle? I would see they will be keep, it’s no much advantage between players in my opinion.

IIRC legacy will not have a ladder right away.
It is not completely off the table, but for the start only the cycle will have a ladder.

I don’t think there are any specific info’s about that.
But since stashes are one of the only gold sinks right now and gold will become more important with factions I do think it is important that these Stash tabs will also reset with each cycle.

So that there is meaningful choice what you wanna do with your gold

With clarification: I think the new characters you create for each cycle will start fresh with new stash tabs and everything, but the characters that move to standard (legacy) cycle will keep the tabs that were previously bought with the gold earned for that character.

This is my thought pattern based on everything I’ve seen/read on the cycles but I could be wrong and am ready to be corrected.

I don’t think that is how this will work.

Mike explained a while ago that they don’t have the tech for that currently IIRC. I think it might very much work similar to this, but they didn’t have any concrete solutions or ideas yet.
I can’t find the post

EDIT: I am speaking of account wide Stash tabs, not solo characters.
I remember Mike talking about Stash Tabs Merging from multiple characters into “standard/legacy”. This will most likely not work how people expect it or at least he couldn’t confirm anything at that time

IMO, the point of seasons (or leagues or cycles, whichever you want to call them  ) is to start fresh. I have no problem starting tabs fresh each season. When the season ends, the character will go back to standard/legacy/whatever and what tabs you had on that season will be able to be merged with your own, via remove only tabs. I seem to recall Mike saying something to that effect in a long post someone made with all the dev communications.

Also, remove only tabs after a season are sort of a standard in many ARPGs, like PoE or D2R. And the only reason that these 2 don’t reset their stash tabs on new season is because D2R doesn’t actually have dynamic tabs (always the same 4) and PoE uses real money for new tabs, so they can’t reset those.

As I said in my first post

So I think we are on the same page here.

Not sure if you specifically replied to me or if you wanted to reply to the thread in general.

I think starting from scratch (in every possible way) is kinda the point of seasons. I know a lot of people will disagree with that but I think the time it takes to get most of the baseline stuff back is fairly low anyway. (compared to other similar games).

Even though we seem to ahve a simialr mindset I have to disagree with the general notion of this:

Just because other games do something a particular way makes that a good argument IMO.
Especially in genres that ahs such a extensive history and so many different titles I really do like if games kinda throw you off a bit and don’t do it how people expect it.

I know that this sometimes can lead to frustration, when new players expecet things to work a certain way and then they don’t.
But I always had a very strong opinion about this: This is a player issue, not a game/dev issue :smiling_imp:

For example I really really did like the old Protection system (before they changed it to a more traditional resistance system). I know it had its flaws, but nontheless I liked it, because it just was different.
But even now where they changed it to a more traditional resistance system LE still did enough of its own twist on it. (With the enemy penetration up to area level 75)

I was actually replying to the thread in general. And yes, I agree with you on most things.

The remove only tabs argument is just that it seems a system that works. If you find another that works as well, I’m all for it. But I seem to recall this question having been put before and Mike saying something about those, which is why I mentioned them.

Honestly, both in PoE and D2R I always just played seasons and completely ignored the remove only tabs. I know D2R only keeps those tabs from the last season, but PoE doesn’t. I once logged to an older char just for fun and there were dozens of those tabs from previous leagues :joy:
