I tried lvling Primalist totem build for first time, and realized it is not what I am looking for. i was thinking more of a trapsin playstyle in D2, that is not found in LE at the moment.
I only have vague feeling on why they are different but I will try. Totem in LE feels more like a tank, with temporary static minion and the totem are more like utility with health to maintain in some builds. Trapsin feels more like playing spellcaster that kites enemy, laying trap zone that triggers on nearby enemies, traps feels more disposable.
I have fond memories of trapsin as my first ARPG character (D2) and would be happy if LE does introduce a similar archetype/playstyle to the game. I hope either falconer or runemaster has some skills to build into this playstyle.
So, there is a mastery class under the rouge that will utilize traps. The Falconer, it is not released yet though. Hopefully they will get it out soon with the other 2 mastery classes missing. The Warlock, and Runemaster.
Yea, I just hope LE will differentiate between minion trap vs spell trap.
I havenât as I donât see a viable build with them. Decoy is the trap spell type I am looking for but alone it does not scale endgame due to long cd. Remote detonation note is in my opinion useless. Original delay to explode is not too long(2.5s) and its taunt ability is very useful. With decoy long cd, I donât see why anyone would want to use half of their mana pool to get -2s to damage tick and lose the taunt cc, then wait 10s+ to cd.
Ballista is a minion trap (totem) as they have huge HP to tank mob and scale of minion tag. It lacks aoe and has prohibitive mana cost to be spammed.
EDIT: poison pool from acid flask is similar to a spell trap too but its scaling on its own is just bad.
Falconer will have some kind of traps and apparation I am 99% sure of.
But we donât know what Runemaster will be about at all.
But in my mind, itâs a class that has a lot of area denial skills, like runes on the ground with different effects, this could be seen as some form of âtrapsâ.
Maybe I am completely off here, but thatâs what I always thought of it.
And It would very well blend the big gap between Spellblade and Sorcer, simialr to what Falconer will do with Bladedancer und Marksman.
Both of those Mastery for both classes are so much on the opposite side of the spectrum in terms of playstyle and builds that having the 3rd mastery be very versatile between then would make a lot of sense.
But to get to the part that I quoted, if i am right with some of my speculations Runemaster most likely will have âspellsâ
I think there was some information around it having a âRune Golemâ or stuff like this, I donât necessarily think it will be a complete minion class, more in the realm of Forge Guard, where you have a niche minion route, if you do want to go that route.
