I don’t currently have any frostbite or ignite chance, so I can’t test it easily.
Wondering if damage over time counts as “hit” and refreshes the duration (when you have to move away from a boss for too long and can’t refresh it within that 4 seconds).
I doubt it does, but new to the game so don’t fully know the restrictions of terms like “hit”. Thanks!
It is my impression that the intent of the devs is that on a channeled skill, only the first use creates a “hit” and the rest of the channeled skill is not considered to create hits. Am I wrong on this?
You are, the start of the channel is a “use”, the duration isn’t. If the skill doesn’t have the DoT tag then every hit of a channel is a “hit”. Using channelled Flurry as an example, every single hit should be counted as a “hit” for any purposes where the game checks for hits, such as ailment application (though Flurry has a 40% less chance for ailments).
So if there were a passive or proc or something that said something along the lines of “when you use a skill”, that would only proc at the start of channelled Flurry. But if it said “when you hit an enemy”, that should occur every hit unless the proc functioned like an ailment, then it would be affected by Flurry’s less chance to apply ailments (Holy Aura’s Flame Burst is like this, it’s an ailment that builds up on the target & when it reaches the threshold it does it’s thing).
