Thoughts from a Diablo 1 player.. Last Epoch is my Diablo 3

Bare with me and sorry for the TLDR but i had to stop actually playing LE right now to write this, its that important.

Before I get flamed, this is in no way a comparison between Diablo and Last Epoch but from a long time ARPG player. Diablo is my favortie franchise of all time with Diablo 2 being my #1 game of all time in the ARPG series, POE coming in 2nd (please don’t flame me for this but im old school) :slight_smile: .

Now with that being said, this game MIGHT actually top Diablo 2 as my #1 ARPG of all time and here’s why. The issue with Diablo 2 was that the end game was rather boring and actually a bit underwhelming…, but Diablo 2 from a holistic point of view had the best itemization, Skill trees, Runes, farming and drop rate ever, EVER in a game! D3, D4 didn’t come close to this and it’s unfortunate because i love and continue to love the Diablo Universe more than anything.

Last Epoch basically takes and rips out exactly what I want from D2 and PoE. It adds on to each one of these pieces with so much more flexibility with builds/loot/trading. End game here looks alot like POE end game which is a fantastic map system.

Sorry for the TLDR but I hope a dev reads this and see from an old school Diablo 2 players perspective of why Last Epoch could be the #1 ARPG of all time.

So, what you meant in your title is that LE is your D2, not D3? Cause that reads differently :grin:

No not at all… Diablo 1 and 2 were perfect… Diablo 3 for me is where the franchise lost it’s uniqueness…I think this had alot to do with the end Blizz North? I like how the Dev’s here actually played Diablo 2 and PoE. Took the best systems out of both and put them into LE. It’s straight out Genius.

I just meant that in the topic title you said LE is your D3. I assume you meant it’s your D2?

I see what you mean …and you’re right. I’m starting to feel LE is my D2.

…Perfect? Really? Cuz, I remember it different. If D1 was perfect, there would never be a need for D2. They were fun games, but they weren’t perfect.

It’s obvious he meant that they were perfect for his gameplay tastes. D2 was miles better than D3 and yet D3 (and D4) happened.

Don’t think it’s bashing. It’s just opinion and discussion.

For me, D2/D2:LOD was THE game. D3 was too different, but I was too committed to the franchise. Forced myself to play it. D4 just felt too sluggish and clunky. Did the Alpha and Beta and didn’t bother buying it.

PoE was my D3 or what I felt D3 should have been. It is very in depth. But that’s what had a hold on me. I tried PoE when it launched, but it just didn’t do it for me.

LE is just something different. A little slow paced for me right now. Hoping builds speed up. I’m new, so I’m figured things out. Not sure if it’s there.

D2 had speed when you wanted it. The instant movement.

Here’s to LE! Giving this a fair shot.
