5k Ward, doing some Corruption 100 map, and I release an Exile prison and 2 Mages + 1 Champion spawn and instagib me with frame-one spell effect triggers. Can we acknowledge these instant-damaging spell effect triggers are not okay?
(Also the fact that they are triggers in the first place? I call them that because it reminds me of WC3 custom RPG maps. You can stunlock the boss, but they’re scripted to do certain things anyway, and them doing so is not connected to their actual character at all. It’s more so a map script. And that’s how this game feels. I can freeze an enemy, but they’re still spamming their triggered spell effects anyway.)
That’s really confusing me, since with that much ward in “only” 100c content (likely a tomb/whatever, but still), you shouldn’t be dieing that quickly. But the weirdest thing, there’s 0 overkill damage, which makes it feel more like a bug. I’ve also never seen mobs do a “frame one” attack outside of the students fight (on masochist, it was amusing).
this game has some weird things going on…just yesterday i died to necrotic damage in a corruption 100 area and i have like 500% necrotic resistance on my torment warlock so i really shouldn’t die to necrotic damage in such low corruption zone.
It doesn’t & never has (it’s explained in various places). The only benefit you get from over capping is versus shred (relatively rare) or for a specific mechanic from a skill/passive/unique (eg Boneclamour Barbute’s ward per sec per overcapped necrotic resist). If you have that much necrotic resist, I really hope you’re wearing a Boneclamour.
Yeah, no overkill, but like I said, as soon as the enemies spawned (2 mages and a champion), I got hit with a ton of instant damage. I’m pretty sure at least one of those things was the lightning stuff that spawns a DoT zone under your feet. Hell, maybe all 3 of them did this, and that’s why I died. (And then, I dunno, some instant necrotic spell, too. Lightning definitely isn’t the only instantaneous damage I’ve taken before. There seems to be a lot of dash attacks in this game, too, that just happen instantly. One might not be enough to kill you, but I’ve been insta-gibbed by teleporting forward to explore my map and about 15 normal white enemies tele-dashed on top of me and wiped me out.)
I also feel like there’s some desync issues sometimes, but that’s a slightly different topic.
500% necrotic res. Thats part of ur problem u have way to many affix slots on gear being wasted on necrotic res. Replace a good chunk of it with other thinks like hybrid health. Crit avoid Dmg reduction ect
As @Kulze said res is cappped at 75% anything over that does nothing except specific situations. Like being crit if i remember correctly
Oldschool is kinda right nonetheless. 500% is excessive, unless all other defensive measures are dealt with using the effect of Boneclamor is not the best solution. Nice to have for the extra defense but crit reduction for example is a lot more important then another res Affix.
Also the linking will be an issue since it has to be a offline char… otherwise we’re talking about his sorc, which has transitioned from a meteor build that was already mid-change last time and has turned into… a bit of a mess solely.
I just got 1-shot again, rofl. Lightning-affix champion, “Soul Tank Torros,” insta-ticked me with a lightning spell under my feet, and then did a leap attack right on me for 4k “melee” damage. He was on the corner of my screen.
necrotic res is also my damage. i didnt just stack it for defense. torment warlock gets damage from uncapped necrotic res. the guy who made the guide on maxroll has (1009%)
75% necrotic res
My favorite is the top floor of the Nemesis where sometimes he instantly hits you for 7k lightning blast when it spawns and there isn’t anything you can do about it. Just hope that it doesn’t happen.
There are some damage inconsistencies that are 10 or 20 X and unavoidable. It’s like everything is fine, I’m having fun, my build feels good and I’m dead. lol. Definitely shouldn’t of happened.
A lot of Aoe/dots type attacks need a 90% nerf and their damage to be brought into line.
I feel like what “could” be happening is in combat the monster should make an attack but it doesn’t, then this happens a few times and then the creature actually shot guns you. So you are getting hit with multiple attacks at once.
Most of the time when my HP get chunked or I get 1 shot I actually have no idea what happened. The damage doesn’t make sense.
I know what you mean, kinda like in old WoW, if you Frost Nova a bunch of enemies, they’ll sort of “stockpile” their attacks that they’re unable to make, and if they touch you, they unleash the load in one instant (or even sometimes if they don’t touch you, and they just do a desynced burst on you from a mile away).
Which is another thing that happens to me a lot. Dodging attacks/spell effects, but still being hit by them. I was fighting a boss in the Tombs the other day, and he was shooting multi-projectile balls at me (cone type attack, like Fireball with multiple projectiles). I was weaving between the shots, but they KEPT hitting me every time, doing about 3.5k damage each time. So I had to keep retreating at max range to recover, and then going back in.
… He also had reduced damage taken from distant enemies, AND he had increased life regeneration. Absolutely obnoxious battle. ABSOLUTELY obnoxious battle. What’s funny is that it was probably the “hardest” fight I’ve had in the game so far, and yet, I never died and I was eyes-wide-open, so to speak. However, I’ve certainly died a lot in the game so far, but I can’t classify random ghost one-shots as a more difficult fight, you know what I mean?
…
But it’s good to know that I’m not the only one that this stuff happens to.
