Is this just how we live now? It doesn’t even make sense if you can only give one referral to a complete stranger that’s already playing the game. It should be over email or steam links or something where it can be confirmed that you cause someone to buy the game, and not spammed among players that already own it.

Tying out-of-game activities to in-game rewards is a red flag do me.

You’re pretty much describing every Twitch drop ever (which they also do for this game). Not really seeing a red flags about anything like that either.
But on topic; I’d much rather see this be a thing that isn’t spammed in the chat in-game, but done outside of the game. I easily foresee this getting spammed for at least a week still, if not changed.

this whole situation is a redflag. chat and forum both spammed with this non-sense.
twitch drops also a redflag but i don’t really mind since i’m not a fashionista for pixels. i just won’t get them.

I hope they make it so you get more Bees from playing together with unique people. That way a 4man party could all get bees by playing long enough with eachother.

Twitch drops are fine…assuming you give people a long enough window to earn all the rewards (which they haven’t) - If you had 2 weeks to earn the drops instead of 24h on specific days I wouldn’t see an issue. I don’t compete with anyone for twitch drops, I just have to load it and leave in running in the backround for x hours.
…The bee however is absolutely awful. No one wants to spend hours on forums/discord trying to beg 3 people to use your code (2 of which will get nothing in return). Exact same rubbish as when WoW was giving out recruit a friend rewards (and people would just buy 4 copies of the game for those rewards). For people who do care about cosmetics/pets, it’s put a really negative shadow over the 1.0 launch.

That was kinda my point.
Not all “out-of-game” things are bad - and certainly not “red flags” like the person I responded to mentioned.
The whole bee pet thing should be handled the same way (read: not like it is now, and not as limited - else it won’t combat the spam) - out-of-game and moderated.
Else we’ll keep seeing chat spam with this, for a fairly long period of time.
hope they do something about it soon. it’s frustrating only seeing people talk about bees everywhere

This is the problem. Being only able to refer one person while you need three means eventually people will be missing out on the cosmetic. Why not have the referral reset on a daily basis so over three days you can refer three people which will make it somewhat easier to obtain the 3 referrals overtime. As it stands right now it might as well be impossible to obtain as there are thousands of spam requests (myself included) trying to get 3 referrals.

I mean I can see the chat spam being annoying, but overall it’s a pretty boring cosmetic pet, my friend has like 2 more bees than me, who cares? Just turn off global chat and enjoy the game until it subsides.
easy fix hand out the bees to everyone and call it a day. forget you ever though this was in any way a good idea

Rewards should only come from gameplay.
Its the fact that you need 3 people to refer you but you can only give one, so only 33% of people will get the pet …<_<
