They should have worked the server issues out in beta

yeah RELEASE untested stuff while having years off early access to make sure thing work as they should, the game was supposed to come out like 3 months ago they had this current build which could be on early acccess server to actually TEST it… this is fucked up release that is what it is, stanbat.

I never once disconnected when it was in early access.

They had a trial weekend at 0.9 launch barely anyone played.

It’s perplexing why they launched tbh. They weren’t ready on the server/infrastructure side of things. That’s becoming clear to everybody now.

Agreed. Also, it is not $35, it’s $60+ for the ultimate edition. While I am not requesting a refund, they only get to burn players once. I wish EHG well and maybe in the future we can collaborate once again. For myself, it is time to move on to other opportunities. Yes, I am one of millions of players, no one cares. Either do I. Replying to this post will let others see your point of view, which is welcome. I will not see it as I am not returning. Thanks for the beta play EGH.

Not true. Ridiculously long loading time when transitioning has been a thing off and on for over a year. It’s been a common complaint for AGES. This is not new.

all these internet warriors defending them…fact of the matter is they screwed up. They got 50+ million off the game and they cant buy new hardware?

I agree, they should of made a large open beta for everyone to stress test the servers many months ago. Its kinda the same problem w/ D4…they refuse to offer betas/public test servers, so the consumer suffers. Its a terrible business practice which will eventually lead to serious consequences and distrust to the studio… small or not, I program for a living and have 10 times the amount of traffic to our apis then this game, and I know if shit worked like this there would be some serious consequences…like my job lost, clients would leave, etc… hence, what we are seeing play out live on the forums, due to all of us playing loading screen / disconnect simulator…

Tell us you don’t know how servers work without telling us.

Diablo did this and still got crucified. The launch itself went fine, but then it went to shit the dirst weekend.

I mean, to be perfectly fair, we have had load time issues since the MP roll-out. I can’t imagine anyone said “yeah, well, they will work themselves out once we have 100k+ people hitting the servers instead of the 3k we have now…”

Maybe a real server stress test would have been better, closer to the go-live time, like D4 did? I don’t know. They had one, but obviously not enough people showed up to take part. Perhaps tying it to the push for the Deluxe and Ultimate upgrades – where stress test characters could have been an early start for release? I dunno, hindsight is 20/20, and EHG (admittedly) doesn’t have a lot of experience in this area. But perhaps copying from one of their larger competitors might have been a good idea here? Who knows…

I will be demanding a refund.

Quick to the personal insults. Nice. Very internet warrior of you.

Exactly…no excuse

You literally started it and I guess I was right LOL

Well, there’s no guarantee that 150k people would have helped with that either. Obviously, whatever they had in place was enough to work for getting…what was it… 30-50k… users online when they did their stress test some months back. Sure, we had load times issues, but they said they (thought) they had the cause worked out, and it would be fixed for v1.0.

Even if they did another round of stress testing, then what? The find that it works for the 75k people who partake in it, and we still have issues with 150k-250k? Seeing how just about every online *RP game has these same issues at launch, it seems to me no amount of testing is going to catch them all.

diablo’s launch was still better. Especially with predatory “pay more money and get to play several days earlier” that has allowed to smooth the peak curve and earn more money.

About free weekend for 0.9: I don’t think that game was that popular at that time. But with 1.0 release definitely everyone was talking about it so much more players would come to check the game.

Creating a testing environment requires time and money, especially if the game is already out in beta form. You have to completely separate the test part from the actual beta part and make a ad hoc build that cuts off offline and other stuff for obvious reasons.

All for ONE weekend and from an indie company. Realistically it was not going to happen, the only thing they could have done is a paid early access but this goes clearly against there rules of conduit.

I thought i have read/seen everthing but here is so much misinformation and false assumptions. Why on earth wants a company bad reputation and bad reviews for a game they are working on over 4 years? That makes absolutely no sense for the longlivitiy of a product.

Im not sure if EHG was able to make a big stress test like Blizzard with Diablo 4. Most people dont know this game and blizzard had many years and games to get where they are. D3 was a disaster at launch. D4 launch wasnt good on Playstation, couldnt play on release day. (Suicide Squad doesnt work for many people since launch. Helldivers 2 had a ton of server problems but it seems it doesnt get the hate like LE.)

Here is a reddit post with an EHG Statement which points out the “more server” advice:
