Nemesis is an optional mechanic. You’re not forced to do anything. If you can’t be bothered to do the steps involved in the mechanic, one of which is looking around even a little bit, you don’t get the rewards from the mechanic.
If you want to be an objective zoomer, keep doing it. This game has chosen to give that playstyle an opportunity cost and reward people who play the actual game instead of Movement Skill Simulator.
I totally get that but this is also quite yknow the big thing and the thing that makes you come back after the past cycle ended. The new mechanic the new thing the new whatever. Currently it is the new boss and nemesis but nemesis sucks for me because of this so basically for me there is no new cycle or anything in terms of mechanics added. Might as well quit now and wait for the next one yknow? It is optional if you wanna do it but it is not supposed to also force you to do stuff to do it if that makes sense.
I would recommend do it once on legacy knowing its been released as someone beat it, news was in discord. Then pass on rest of season. I gonna do that myself also probably
It doesn’t, much like when exalted mages were released it didn’t either.
The devs don’t actually want you just rushing to the objective, which is why they keep introducing these mechanics to echoes.
They have, however, failed in this, because the most efficient way to farm them continues to be rushing to the objective and only detouring if you see one/get notified.
Yeah of course it makes sense that the devs want their players to spend more time in their monos and stuff but yeah having an objective set of beating the “boss” of the mono or sealed a gate and whatever just for it to be attached to the end reward makes anything else but rushing useless. I just see “oh unique reward on that mono” or “oh exalted item” and rush the objective then leave since that is the guaranteed reward instead of killing everything hoping I get whatever.
I know now it is kinda hard to change the way the rewards work but yeah this messes things up quite a bit. I suggest there should be notifications or whatevers on the screen pointing out where the new cycle mechanic is and replace it with the notification that comes for the next cycle mechanic.
I sure hope they will do something about this since I really cannot be bothered with clearing monos and I am pretty sure I am not alone. I feel like they might as well take a new mechanic and say “available only in arena of champions”
This would certainly encourage you not to rush, but as has been pointed out it would also encourage simply loading an echo, seeing if there’s a nemesis, leaving, going back in, etc until you find one.
Honesly, I feel like the best tactic continues to be just rushing to objective and only bothering with the nemesis if they show up along the path. Much like you already do with mages or caches.
I would suggest that we can have an Nemesis Encounter on quest list or/and a bigger message on the bottom of the screen, when we enter a zone. Similar to PoE Lab trials in acts. This way you will know it is on the map but you have to find it yourself.
Regarding caches and mages, I think they were originally created as mechanics which you can find accidentally, that’s why there are no messages for them. But I could be wrong on that one.
A good compromise would be to indicate if nemesis is on the map once you finished the objective. If more stuff is added over time, clearing the whole echo might become meta, who knows.
Honestly, I feel like this is only an issue because it was introduced this cycle. Exiled mages are basically the same thing and no one cares if they’re notified about it or not.
I doubt EHG will change this and it will become a non-issue by next cycle.
