Been theory crafting a time rot build, spent a lot of time getting all res capped and also min maxing dps.
Though I ended up making 2 sacrifices for survivability. I am assuming that no resist affixes I get are exalted.
1:Took bonus to all res instead of slow on hit for monolith bonus, this allows more easy cap to resists, though I could have dropped this for all res while channeling(I am running warpath AND volitile orb here) as I do not know how often warpath will be active I decided to take the safer option
2:Not running viper belt also for survivability, as the alternative was a very good belt for tanking due to double res
I also made sacrifices on damage affixes for mana regen as I expect it to be mana hungry from autocasting volitile orbs and several of the skills having high costs. https://www.lastepochtools.com/planner/oPp2gV3o
If anyone has any suggestions to help with increasing dps or defences, especially with the passive tree(as passive tree is far from obtimal), please respond.
First thing I noticed is that you didnāt take the āMaw of the Deepā node in Warpath tree, which scales Warpath damage by 5% per Time Rot stack per point. Another is that youāre loosing 2 points in Warpath just by not taking Reckless Spin and instead you fully invest in Unchained. The -30% ele res is really not that much of a price. You can also checkout Darkstride boots which have ā0.2% Increased Movement Speed per Added Melee Void Damageā making you harder to hit, while adding some melee damage and a % increase to void damage. You can also add Paranoia helmet which, again, has 3 useful things:
(13% to 7%) less Damage Taken While Moving
+(16% to 37%) Critical Strike Avoidance
(33% to 71%) increased Void Damage
Crit avoidance is always good, increased void damage applies to both Warpath and Time Rot, and less damage taken while moving is always in effect, because⦠Youāre always moving with Warpath.
PS. Paranoia also has a somewhat useful effect of Lunge not requiring a target to be used, which turns it into an emergency movement skill.
EDIT1
The -30% ele res from Reckless Spin can be countered by using the empty suffix slot on your amulet. T5 ele res goes up to 23% and T6 would go up to 35%, so that shouldnāt be too hard to find.
Made some modifications to fit the slow blessing in
Not getting maw of the deep as warpath is to apply time rot, not hit damage, not scaling warpath hits. For the same reason not getting darkstride boots.
Paranoia helmet is not as good as just running an exalted here as boots and helm have crit res on base(we are talking 100% less bonus damage on crits from just 2 BASES, not even an affix), also lots of big defence mods. The one thing good about paranoia is the less damage and that is competing with just basic life and res affixes on helm. Maybe if I got a 3/4 LP version so I could slam paranoia + time rot affix t7 + crit avoid affix t7 + something else then it would be better.
Reckless spin is more of an issue than you think, it was rather difficult to cap resists on the build while maintaining high health for high EHP - giving up an affix slot would do quite a bit of issues here.
Which I should incidentally note, the amulets t7 is actually the SET BONUS, so it would need to be double exalted for me to get that ele res on it and the set bonus. Though on closer look, it does not scale very well post t5, being only 8-14% added chance when pushing to t7
Sure, but itās not blocking you from still applying Time Rot and that bonus is āmultiplicative with other modifiersā. There is no downside to taking that node, if you can fit it either by removing points from somewhere else, or maybe fitting +X Warpath Levels. Scaling Warpath will also increase the amount of health leeched by melee.
Unless you switch the slow blessing for crit avoidance one. No need for less damage on crits, when you cannot get critically hit. I forgot to mention it in my original response.
The real question is how far do you want to push this build, because I honestly think that 9k ehp is a lot⦠I feel like you could drop some of it.
does that node affect time rot dps? because warpath itself is essentially zero dps when compared to the time rot.
Less damage on crits is easier to get, only requiring 2 bases, 2 of the highest armor bases in the game. There is not need to get crit avoid if crits do no extra damage, crit avoid requires more gear investment here.
It doesnāt, but I personally would focus more on Warpath as itās real power lies in echos (VK mastery passive). I used to melt Lagoon at C400 with Echo Warpath VK (with some Time Rot, as itās nodes are in the way, but I havenāt really scaled it) before mid 1.1 reset. Hence why I asked how far you want to take this build. Also, do you intend on playing hardcore or softcore?
Does it? Paranoia + blessing = 100% crit avoidance, and you can make Paranoia legendary, as well as use another boots.

Updated, changed warpath a little, running res on channel to offset that node. Also a bunch of res/life changes and tree changes making it even tankier
with new update time rot dps is going to be insane, thus why so much slow chance, void rot chance and attack/cast speed is on gear/passives.
We are talking 13k per time rot BEFORE taking the 75% pen and the extra 36% at max stacks, the extra duration and all of the skill trees into account, just off of the back of rot grip passive times increased void dot.
Takes up a blessing slot for the slow on hit, which is a MORE MULT in this build. Also helm has mandatory affix of time rot chance(a MORE MULT in this build, even assuming max stacks because of rot grip). But I will try to see how I fit paranoia in
As I cannot swap out the slow blessing for crit avoid and be efficient, the only 2 choices here are 1:run helm base and boot base with crit res, as there are not a lot of better bases in their pools this ends up costing very little, this requires
2:run 1LP paranoia with time rot on hit affix, then solve crit avoid with boots as they are the one item that has no build specific affix. But then I would need to pick a ābetterā boot base, and they are already the highest armor boots, so there isnāt a better pick. Which means that reduced from crits becomes about equal to crit avoid in this case⦠also it would need a very high roll in order to get above 100% and ALSO it stops me from using helm to fix any res issues in the build. It is a very costly thing to do to recieve the 10% less while moving from the helm and thus may actually result in LESS ehp due to the needed investment.
After checking in the character builder I can confirm that for this build swapping the helm out costs the equivelent of 3.5 defensive affixes, 2 just because of running paranoia in place of a exalted helm and the other 1.5 because that is how many crit avoid/crit res affixes you need to be able to cap one of the two crit negation methods using the remaining gear.
And those many affixes can just be used for health/resists to get more ehp than if I ran paranoia. again, I am not running the crit avoid blessing as it takes the same place as slow chance.
Updated build:
Swapped out shield for reforged, allowing me to have my block chance below 30% which doubles a more damage node(giving 10% more as a result), also it means more ehp.
Also removed atrophy for 3 reasons: it is very hard to get, a exalted item in the same slot results in a lot of ehp, also an exalted item in same slot can have attack speed AND cast speed(so it isnāt actually that much of a dps loss).
Running erasing strike instead of warpath because we reach max time rots fast and that means if we want to apply more time rot damage it becomes about the value per time rot instead of number of time rot stacks, erasing strike gets a lot of more multipliers so can apply some massive time rot dps.
Also a bunch of passive changes for more damage and defences. And devouring orb slightly changed with a +2 level affix, now it shoots some abyssal orbs, which causes a lot of time rot stacks in short time(thus why we are now using erasing strike)
The result of all of this should be more dps on average, higher burst and it results in 12k-18k ehp(much more ehp).
Updated again, all I did this time is change up some of the trees to be less clunky, volitile reversal is now a movement skill with no ability to go back in time, it now generates void essence https://www.lastepochtools.com/planner/AKlmaDnQ
